  1. Hi, Last time I was in the area the lane was blocked by mahoosive boulders at the rugby club end... I know the Desert people usually overcome the restictions some how, but the council certainly don't want you there...
  2. Not a straight forward for sale thread really... Have ES Premium Boost Alloys with 6 month old BFG MT's that I need off before friday... Can't be sold on the car, They will fit my new car, may have to buy NEW tyres to sell car! ...anyone want them...cash my way! Any other solutions, can't find any part worns locally... In Newcastle Cheers Mark
  3. Good News! Have extracted the canister from the depths of the dashboard, just need to procure a bypass plug.. Many thanks Mark
  4. Howdee, help please... I have the can type immobiliser on my Disco (not the Spider 'box') The part number is YWJ500020. It is an immobiliser with a key fob (supposed to have 3 actually, I have one, hence the question) Is the loom in the later Disco 1's with this immboliser the same as the older ones.??? Therefore, Can I replace the immobiliser with the bypass loom ...???? Cheers Mark
  5. Options are: 1, Standard (consider renewing) 2, Xenon look halogen, these are easy to find on ebay or Powerbulbs.com 3, HID Xenon upgrade, cheaper than they ever were but still expensive. I think option 2 is the best balance of performance/cost... Auto Express usually do comprehensive bulb tests, have a look on their website. Edit: http://www.powerbulbs.com/bulb_finder.asp?...=353&bulb=6 http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/prod...tbulb_test.html
  6. I once bought a parkers review some time ago that put me off Disco's and onto Shoguns! Basically Manual Gearbox Life Expectancy: 60000miles Auto: 120000miles ...and the associated smoother operation for the rest of the transmission from the auto.
  7. Well, Got the rotor out of the unit, but it was a little worse than yours.... The bearing in the 'cage' at the back of this shot came out with it due to the bearing being seized on the shaft. Even with a soaking in plus gas... Heat got the bearing off and I managed to get the bearing back in the cage..... Whether it stays or not..... ...so If you have issues removing this part, consider using a bit of heat on the back of the motor to expand the bearing.
  8. Top man! I took my motor out and condemned it last week as it looked bad... (like yours) I will now have a go at stripping as I luckily didn't bin it... not sure where the screws are mind! Sunroof has been tested with a Makita on the gearbox (motor removed) and is fine. CHEERS!
  9. Time to get the WD40 and spanners out.. then lie upside down in the footwell!
  10. Not been but I guessed that, we have similar places round here... not as big! ... it sounds absolutely fantastic. I think the issue is that he charges and therefore becomes a business, the laws apply.... If someone gets hurt/killed without these rudimentary safety items in place then he would be in court explaining against long standing legislation... ...The law does not understand or want to know the we are taking these calculated risks... They are wanting to fit GPS tracking to my 190mph death trap! (... oh and then they fit cheese wire safety barriers due to cost!) Grrrrr
  11. I don't know if anyone has the full background to draw conclusions. If they are trying to prosecute under HASAWA 1974, then it must be pretty heavy stuff.. ie fundamental safety breaches. I know we will all have our own view on what is acceptable... I am a biker and new legislation is being raised and tackled week in week out.. The 'powers that be' cannot understand calculated risk taking.. Is it just that 'Tom' has not get the basic Risk Assessments and Method Statements for public access to the site? I know that Stage Rallying have to produce these for every event each year, one of our events is 50yrs old this year and it still applies! It is a sad situation in this country with the nanny state... but when it boils down to it the people who fight it do not have the support they should. ...most roll over, winge a bit, then accept it.
  12. Sorry to Hijack a little... but it is the same subject My seat has a bit of movement front to back... ie it slides forward a few mm when braking hard... ...is this normal or is there a part (or parts) that wear and cause this? Many thanks in advance M
  13. Were the wires attached to controls for the stereo? If the answer is no, i think you do not have rear ICE controls
  14. The car is for sale at Simmonites... Click Here for Web They may give you the size if they think there may be a sale!! Cheers Mark
  15. as for the wiring.. The cabling does not look like it is that big... (cross sectional area) so personally I would only use it for powering low amp stuff such as phone chargers pda etc... especially if you don't know where it is fed from. For compressors and the like I would be wanting some heavier stuff for the currents involved... if you can get the max load required I or someone could size a 12V conductor for you. I would then possibly have it switched through a relay of the ignition so it won't flatten the battery if something is left connected. Standard relays are 40 AMP, so if you wanted to work on this figure, cable size would need to be around 10mm2... fairly big Cheers Mark
  16. That reminds me... I must fit the silencer replacement pipe... the V8 is just too quiet at the minute.. One Life... yup.. Watched the Camel DVD that came with LRO this month... 1991 event first for the Disco's.... Jees they take some hammer... reiginited my passion to sort stuff out on it.
  17. Rob, I think if you re-read the first post you should realise that is EXACTLY what I was saying... Cheers for your input and the banter...
  18. The post concurs with you... ST3 Focus would be £60 more a month than LPG Disco getting equivalentish MPG of 36mpg... (ie Half price fuel) The focus and polo calculations were on 53 and 50 mpg respectively... The gist of the post is that I am going to run the Disco... So it may be me not being clear rather than you being a muppet Davey!
  19. Cheers for your post... worth checking signatures before trolling... It was a light hearted thread to make the worry of driving around in a thirsty beast in the current climate a bit more bearable.. Thanks again
  20. 333litres at 49.9 (LPG) costs - £166.16 - £41.50 per week... ????? I'm confused
  21. I have been doing some calcs, as I am changing jobs and am going to be quite a bit of travelling till we relocate. I have worked out that I will be doing about 330miles a week and thought purchase of a small 'normal' car would be sensible.. as you do... The conclusion I have come to is that I will be doing it in the Disco! ... and here is why... At an Optimistic 18mpg at 75 with Cruise... I have calculated with the power of excel that the following monthly savings could be made with a car swap/ third car purchase: by the way Landy Fuel £44.95 per week to run Monthly Savings: Focus 1.4 - £51 Focus 1.6 - £45 Focus 1.8 - £34 Focus 2.0 - £11 Focus TDCi- £62 Focus ST - £60 More!! Polo Diesel - £60 For £15 week I get to go in my Disco than a crappy Polo Diesel... or I fork out another £2-3k on a newer Diseasel Focus (insert eurobox here) to save the same amount... ...to maintain some driving pleasure.. a 2.0 Focus would only save me £3 a week!... Thought it was a good bit of news in the world of downsizing and negative press for the costs of running a nasty gas guzzler...
  22. Cheers for this.. My internal human torque meter was telling me something was wrong with the effort exerted! Cheers for the warning Mark
  23. Progress Update... Removed all the plug leads and cleaned up with a silicon spray, check all the connections to the plugs and ran tidely. Removed Distributor cap, used light emery to clean up rotor arm copper including where the carbon centre pin touches and cleaned up all the pins for each lead. (tried to check advance but rotor arm wouldn't come off very easily ...any clues chaps??) Already a massive difference...clear difference on Petrol or Gas... Seems to be more power everywhere... Won't kick down logically... having to drop it manually to accelerate up a hill on the way home that foils the Disco box into slowing the car in Drive... So, Plugs and timing check next....
