  1. Came home tonight to a wet car...... Not been raining hard but is deffo wet.... Inside was a perfectly dry mat.... [DANCE MODE] Yipeee.. Jiggity jig.... [/DANCE MODE] Paul.. Take a sweet from the jar and head to the top of the class.... (Big thanks to all for the patience and advice...) I got myself some bonnet buffers to fill the two empty holes I found behind bonnet. So.. I now need sound advise on how to get these inserted... Gap between bonnet and bulkhead just lets me get them inserted but cannot for the life of me get the lips through the hole. Is it a bonnet up jobbie, bonnet off jobbie, liberal amounts of vaseline jobbie ? Advise oh great helpers of LR owners....
  2. Paul.... You may be right... Weekend after next it's on the list of things to do..... If sealing the vents properly doesn't do it, I'll be looking at the windscreen seal.... <oh dear.. where is this going to lead...> I'll keep you informed next time it rains to see if present modifications work...
  3. Had a look at the vent seals last night. Looks like some of the fixing glue not holding.. Although vent pressed against seal hard, I'm hoping this is the solution... New job added to the list... Re-stick vent seals to car.... Was also wondering if it could be screen seal...... But lets see after we sort the vents....
  4. Paul.. You will be teaching us how to make podcasts next ! LOL.. I connect to net on laptop in the 110 using the mobile... Not too easy to type and drive but always there if I need it ! (I'm not sure I got enuff sealant for a house roof.....)
  5. Maybe... But I'm not telling !!!!
  6. Ok.. How can I watch the vent seal when raining or being hosed down ? Would rather see it if possible before ripping things apart.... Or is it just re-seat vent and vaseline all round to see if it slows ? Any suggestions without ripping the car apart for a looksee?
  7. Well I came across some pond sealant I use for emergencies. Great stuff, will even seal/cure under water and loves extreme conditions... My sunroof now sealed level to the glass / black surround and this morning after a night of rain, it was dry !!!! (Shame I still had a puddle in the drivers footwell mat from one of the other annoying little leaks....)
  8. We had rain last night.... Looked in this morning.. Pool of water. Had a quick look this morning and door seal dry, hinge/door retainer dry.... I have a rubber footwell mat with lips/edges so it must be landing within the boundaries of the mat... It doesn't look like any water is running down from the pedal area.... It literally drips on the area just in front of the accelerator pedal. (Back towards driver) Is that dash or bulkhead territory.. (I'll look tonight) Could it be water running in the bonnet area in some way and running through a bulkhead seal on a cable and dropping down from behind/within the dash ? (Or do those wires and such go up to bulkhead from engine bay ?)
  9. Thanks for your pointers there Callum..... The water comes in while stationary and moving so I'll maybe whip the vents out one weekend soon and make sure I'm getting a good seal.. Maybe even the vaseline trick along the rubbers if I feel they may be the culprits.... I removed the carpets from the front some time back so it all dries pretty quick... (Also forgot to mention that I get a similar leak on the passenger side..) I doubt I'll ever get to a Land Rover that doesn't leak, but it will be nice to know I've nailed it down to less than 5 key leak points at some point....
  10. Should have known... Will pass the information along. Many thanks again Ralph....
  11. Friend was nosing about under my bonnet earlier today looking around... Saw this (Connects to radiator top hose) He's got a different hose connector which juts straight out (Without the nice curve to the right) and would love one of these... He's got the same Edelbrock manifold etc. Anyone kow where to get these and what they are called / part number ? Thanks in advance... (Will anyone beat Western with this one?)
  12. We are still under a hosepipe ban here.. Maybe I'll drive round to a friends later !! Pedal box rebuilt... See pic Screen seal looks good (and was tightened yesterday...) Fingers crossed I can nail this someday.... Neil
  13. Still don't know if leak has slowed though !! (Hence still on list )
  14. Well done team.. I saw the first stupid post land in Defender forum around midnight.. Dropped a note to the mod and knew you would cover it... If you want feedback, I'd go for the mod/admin approval which puts most spammers off but they will still try. Most people will wait for a day to post no problem as long as they know what is happening and why in the joining instructions up front.... (Experience from another board I moderate on..) Neil
  15. Looks in good order... Tightened the bolts today though just in case....
  16. Mmm.... Pedal box replaced when restoring 110.... Door seals new, vent seals new (And look closed ok..) Can't see anywhere obvious.. Will wait til next rain and lurk with torch.. I'm highly suspicious of the hinge / door strap mentioned above.... Hey ho.. No carpets anyways so why worry !
  17. Oh no... Ralph.. Reading all of your words of wisdon is adding to my list.... No matter how hard I work at clearing the list, you always suggest more things I need to do..... Curse you.. (In a kind and friendly way..)
  18. I can tease 20+ out of mine if I take care over distances.... Usually under 15 tho ! Got a foot like Niges, just not got the Horses to go with it...
  19. I got condensation and leaks from my sunroof.... Cleaned the seals up last weekend and did the petroleum jelly trick.. Still leaks... Now contemplating silicon sealing and then roof replacement when I can find one ! Landmannn, why close those vents up at the back ??
  20. Joined yesterday after you pointed it out Paul.... Getting used to how it all works but some great information in there.... Many thanks for the heads up.. Neil
  21. Well Nige... I recon that part is not right... I'm no expert but I doubt it was made like that... Fingers crossed for you matey.... Hope all runs well now Neil
  22. Ok... I'll check the screen and bulkhead and as a last resort I'll get into scuba gear and get hosed down.... (Do I need to take pics of that for the tech archive ?)
  23. Front vent seals are new.... Also drips when car stationary parked outside house. (Drive slopes so car is placed front lower than read!)
  24. Where does it come from..... I know it's a Land Rover and I should expect it to be wet inside when it's wet outside.... But.... Whenever it rains it drips down around the throttle pedal area... Is it likely to be screen, bodywork join? Where's the place to start looking? (Or do I just wear waterproof shoes all the time?)
  25. When I bought my 110 the previous owner had covered the front grill to increase warmth in the cab for his good lady wife.... He'd used Checker plate with some nice holes drilled in it.. (52 mm each X 3...) He had also replaced the radiator, thermostat and head gaskets on the V8 !!! When it came to sorting the car out, I ended up replacing the old engine as it never ran smooth. I had no confidence in it long term and so had a re-engineered unit installed.... Now runs at temp fine, although a little warm when on tick-over for a long time or crawling through green lanes....
