  5. hi all, d90 1987 deisel, loud grinding sound coming from somewhere, narrowed it down to front diff,(how) removed rear propshaft noise still there, put it back on, removed front propshaft noise gone,(uj's already been changed) on inspection also found what seemed to be a lot of play in flange on the transferbox is this normal? alot of play in flange on front diff, on twisting flange on diff can here what sounds like crunching, now i have a spare diff from a disco 1 removed it today and looks in very good condition, will this fit, it has a four bolt flange the same as defender diff, if so how easy would it be to fit, would i have to remove and strip all the hubs down ? cheer's defender dinky

  12. hi all, d90 1987 200tdi disco engine in it, went out this morning driving along about half hour, parked up went back to d90 started up driving a long reached a speed to change into 2nd a grinding noise appeared all through 2nd 3rd and 4th, as soon as i released off the pedal stopped back on grinding, back off stopped only when i use the gas, sounds like it's coming from middle of the floor in the back of the van, on rebuild i filled axles up, greased props t/box and gearbox all new oil, they had all been standing empty for about 3 weeks, now oil as circulated round parts could it be just need topping up, the noise only occurr's when i use acelorator pedal, things to check please starting with easist cheapest defender dinky

  17. hi, western could you advise me on which springs would be best for my truck, i have looked at the springs link in archives, but still none the wiser, i have a d90 1987 with a 200 tdi disco engine, stanard shocks, heavy bumper with winch, hoping to put 255 x 85 a/t on it at later date 75% road use 25% greenlaning, i will be removing disco springs as soon as, as above front to high cheer's dd
  18. hi all, recently done rebuild on d90 1987 with a 200tdi disco engine in it,from the disco i also took suspension springs off it and put them on my 90, which makes it look as if the front end is sticking up in the air a little bit, would this affect my steering at all because when driving along revs on steering seems ok ish but when slowing down to corner gets really stiff where as can't change gear at the same time because need two hands to turn wheel, tried bleeding still the same and when bleed nipple open turn engine shoots all over the place so don't think it's the pump, when rebuild i stripped everything down sent chassis off sandblast and galvanising, followed threads on swivel preloads so i think that's ok, steering wheel moves 1" either way without doing anything, i took coloum out to paint bulkhead, just trying to tell you what i done and narrow the problem down, again grateful any suggestions, cheer's defender dinky

  21. hi all,d90 1987 200 tdi disco engine in it ,i have a fast idling speed which i think is causing vibrations in pedals, footwell, and very slightly on gear lever, i ajusted throttle cable tension more than once but high revs on idling keep coming back, also my steering is very stiff on pulling away, is there any connection, any ideas cheer's defender dinky
