  1. thanks again for the replies i will be speaking to my mate 'the diesel specialist' to see what he can come up with in terms of the pump and throttle. if any of you have got a 2.5 v6 vw/audi or vauxhall v6 diesel engined car at the moment can you get me some pictures or dimensions please. Many thanks Matt
  2. thanks again for the replies, does anybody know anything about the electronics/electrics? are they very complicated or is it quite easy to wire in or would it be easier to use the donor car's loom? thanks again Matt
  3. Hi, many thanks for the replies. i tried looking for the defender with the v6 in it and i couldn't find it? i want a v engine because i like the sound of it, plus as you rightly say it is shorter. thank you again Matt
  4. Hi, does anybody know if this engine has been swapped into any other vehicles or do you know of any other v6/v8 turbo diesels that are cheap and come standard RWD (so that the engine is pointing in the right direction to start with, for radiator hook ups etc)? Many thanks Matt
  5. Thanks for all the replies. i have also found a fifth wheel defender towing a 45ft caravan on utube, very cool defender! Matt www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI9qSnmpDTk
  6. Hi, When you fit the range rover axles do you have to fit plastic wheel arches? Matt
  7. Hi, I think what i hope to achieve is a one ton crew cab, i have the one ton wheels all be it with 235/85 x 16 tyres and not the 9.00 x 16's (i didn't want to buy remoulds in this size as i was told they had a bit of a reputation and not a good one!). I have always liked the look of the one ton now i want to make it more usable, at least for me. Matt
  8. I don't know why more people aren't building up twin cabs/crew cabs as these are the perfect solution between work and family, for me any way? I am going to sell the 90 hardtop and put a station wagon rear tub with a cut down safari roof (looks like another winter rebuild then!) Matt
  9. Right i know this is going to sound stupid to some people who already know the answer but what is the difference between leading and trailing shoes???? i have just replaced the rear shoes on my 109 and they were identical, the ones i refitted were i guess leading and trailing so i checked the land rover manual and haynes manual and i couldn't get any answers. So which one goes to the front and which one goes to the rear? Simple answers or better still pictures only please. Many thanks Matt
  10. Hi, has anybody built a series twin cab/crew cab? i know of only one and that was featured in lro, but has anyone else tried this if so pictures and specs please. This is a picture of mine with a 90 hard top. Many thanks, Matt
  11. Hi, Does any body have any pictures or information regarding an SVO vehicle, i believe it was a defender 90 single cab that was built to resemble a lorry with a fifth wheel trailer? I think it was only used as a show vehicle and not some sort of prototype. The only other thing i can remember was that the truck and trailer were both white and the trailer had canvas side curtains. It had no body work at the back only mudguards. I would also appreciate any pictures or info of series landie's that have been converted to the above spec or that have been converted to a fifth wheel. Many thanks Matt
  12. Hi, Does anybody know of a ubolt supplier/shop in the Essex area? I am putting Range Rover axles under my 109" and i have hit a slight snag i can't seem to buy extended u bolts. I also can't find any dimensions of standard landrover u bolts, so i don't know if any of these would be suitable. As i have a 109" does anyone have any ideas for sound proofing and a heater that would work. one off designs, specs and pictures would be appreciated. Many thanks Matt
