I have a 3.9 V8i auto disco powered by LPG, which generally runs very sweetly. It has recently started to cut out without warning, once or twice a day. The gas level indicator/petrol switch light goes out, and the car will not re-start until it comes on again, normally after a few minutes, occasionally about 10 mins. Gas problem? Electrical problem? Mystified. Car OK apart from this. I am going to run it on pertol for a couple of days -ouch! to see if the problem continues. Any ideas gratefully received.

I have just bought a V8i running on LPG, and so I'm keeping a careful watch on fuel costs. At present, driving mailny on country A and B roads I seem to be getting about 170 miles per fill, which converts to 13.3 miles per gal using the excellent calculator at http://www.cleavebooks.co.uk/scol/ccfuel.htm That works out at 20 p per mile. Franky I'm not impressed, as I was hoping for better. Or am I just a naive newby who didn't do their sums before they bought? Can anyone esle share some LPG consumption data with me? I think you may be kidding yourself - or fudging the figures to give yourself the answer you would like. It's very easy to get confused between miles/gallon and litres/100km and I reccommend this website to clear the fog http://www.cleavebooks.co.uk/scol/ccvol.htm Using the calculator on the website: 330 miles a week x4 is 1320 per month. At 18 mpg (as you say, optimistic) that is 73 gallons. 73 gallons is 333litres 333 litres at 91.9 (petrol) costs £306 -£76 per week 333ltres diesel at 101.7 is £338.66 - £84 per week A Eurobox will consume around half that of a Landy, giving you a saving of £42 PER WEEK for diesel, or £168 a month. Cheer up though. That's only 62 pints of best bitter. 2 pints a day, every day. I am obsessed by fuel costs having just bought a V8i running on LPG. I have started to seperate thread to see if anyone else is getting better than my miserable 13 mpg!
