  1. Just an idea matt but if i were you i wouldnt use a defender rear floor pan, yes the locker is huge but its carp, you fill it with all your gear, then fold the seats down and then put your other bits and bobs in the footwell. then you cant fold the seats forward to get to the locker. What i would do is scrap that stupid bloody panel graft a front door top corner to a square one like a rear one and then you can build a nice locker/drawer on ball bearing runners that will pull out either side, then you could mount some raingie front seats or maybe another set of front seats in the back and you will have a very usefull and easily accessable space without having to move anything. (sorry for the rant) I also reckon you could do well buy making the inside of the rear body have wheel arches like a hi-cap or put some huge lockers in the body sides. to really maximise storage space. Will.
  2. I just put the ifor top on the 130 and whack a double airbed in the tub you do need a good sleeping bag however Will.
  3. I would cut the inlet off plug the gap and put a new inlet with a swage on it in the end opposite the outlet abit like a rr trumpet style. Will.
  4. Thats impressive!! This is the best i could manage in my roofrack, How did it handle then?? Will.
  5. These are the only ones i have on this computer but... Managed this with 31" at's This happened when i ripped the balljoint mount off the axle at full chat on a hillclimb Pushing 90 with a telehandler when a tyre popped off the rim and dug in M12 dropped out the front of the gearbox and got jammed under the flywheel. I also have quite a few pics of chewed up diff bits along with a religious axle casing after the afore mentioned bits of diff took flight. Will.
  6. The problem with flanges is that the existing exhaust is a NA one so i cant use the flanges on that and i'm not buying a td5 system just for the flanges! Will- once i have bought a silencer for £30 then had it delivered then bent up and welded the pipe to it and made a tailpeice it seems easier to just buy a td5 one readymade it should save time too- you know thus reducing build time
  7. Cheers Folks. Yep I try and use standard but seen astho its got a 2.8 isuzu and the turbo is on the other side i'm fairly certain that a mid pipe will be too far forward for the downpipe to connect up to. Looks like i will be ringing round for a td5 exhaust in the near future Will.
  8. Morning folks, A friend of mine wants me to build him an exhaust for his 90 with a 2.8 isuzu lump in it, i'm going to use 2 1/2 pipe for the downpipe and mid section but going over the axle is a bit of a pain not to mention 2 1/2 bore silencers are bloody expensive everywhere i look. Whilst i was in my local motorfactors i got a price for a td5 90 rear section and it came out at £43 plus VAT which i didnt think was bad at all by the time i have bent the pipe, bought the silencer etc etc so my question is just what size is a Td5 exhaust? Secondly where can i get the flanges to join the pipe together at a half decent price, on my trialer i just made a sleeve so i could use a clamp but i would prefer to do this job a little more proffesionaly. Thanks, Will.
  9. Al our small yard forklift was 700 IIRC it has an isuzu 4 pot and we all know how relaible they are, it has a full free lift, sideshift and lifts 3 tons easily up to about 4m you really dont need much space due to the excellent lock (turning within its own length). Although a HIAB sounds cool:) Could you have one or two swinging jib cranes like they had on docks and railway stations orperating in crossing arcs? A telehandler aint much cop in a building as you dont get much headroom vs actual lifted height due to the design of the boom not to mention that a telehandler is carp for laterel placement once it gets a bit tight due to it being twice as wide as the pallets etc. (can you tell i operate both in a confined area ) a 360 would be no use it will chew your floor up and a midi on rubbers wont lift, a backhoe is ok but are a pain to get in and out of for checking positions, IMHO a small forklift with an I beam on a pivot and ram so it can slew side to side (no more than 30-40 degres past the centerline due to stability options) would be cool, also you can lift a vehicle onto stands with the forklift and then remove the axles as they rest on the forks, try doing that with a gantry. Will.
  10. A decent old forklift can be had for 500-1000 al, this would mean you can start using pallets aswell as being able to unload in a yard and will be able to take it with you if you ever move premises. We have a yard forklift and a telehandler, with a flyjib for the tele and a basic I beam jib for the forklift i have taken out a few engines and gearboxs this way and its very easy. Will.

I have a tti tcb-770 ands its a tidy little unit, i got it free off a mate as it didnt work(had been submerged in carp) but after abit of cleaning it has come up Rosy. I bought the DIN mount kit and extension speaker from 4x4cb and they seem extremely helpful. Please excuse the hole and the hideous gappage/bodged up filler piece around the radio the dash came out of another vehicle (not mine!) and i think it had be customised by a blind retarded monkey as it was being dragged through a mangle with a blunt butterknife Will.
  12. Just measured a panhard rod i have and bolt centres are 825mm, Just been on the paddocks site and noticed this:clicky jobber That seems extremley cheap to me considering the bushes would probably be £15 to buy! Will.
  13. Big clunk as you take up drive? it will be the driving members on the ends of the halfshafts are slack around the splines. I put new hubs on and they went slack again in about a month, i think the cure would be new shafts and some HD flanges (these work out cheaper than a pair of genuine ones) Will.
  14. 4 1/2" grinder with a worn down grinding disc will allow you to slit the nut then you can attack it with a hammer/chisel/big screwdriver/swearwords/molegrips/fire thus enableing its removal. Will.
  15. Personaly I would always go for 3500kg, that way you know that you can carry anything landy related if you need to. I would also say that you can get 3 ton on in 1 ton bags or probably over 2 ton of grano or sand in something like a 14footer.
  16. If you look upwards and right you will see a small button called 'search' this can be used to search for topics, you might like to try it, it can really blow your mind.
  17. Cheers chaps, yes the rear pan is removeable so i guess they are 60's. I think i'll stick with my sailsbury and AEU2522's for now, it seems like a lot of work if there not actually that much stronger. Off to ebay with them i think
  18. Hi all, I have this pair of toyota axles sat around an i would like to know what they are off and more importantly how strong they are likley to be. Certainly the back diff is about 3.5 ratio no idea on the front one. Few pics for you. Are rear discs available to fit these or is it too much hassle? Also does anyone have any idea what they are worth (i have the other two wheels) Cheers, Will.
  19. I run some 750 fedimas on the back of my 90, i thought they were the dogs but after swapping the fronts for some dirt devils (no longer available) i realised that they seem a little lacking in sidewall tread, if i am in ruts i can pretty much just turn and drive out of them with these as opposed to the fedimas, however the fedimas are awesome for digging in to find grip as well as self clearing much better than the devils. I like the setup i have now and it works for me well, i would recommend the pattern to anyone. On a side note i have found 31:10.50:15's quite lacking in height, they are nice width wise but height wise look marginal on a 90, I had some on the 130 for a while and they looked completely lost not to mention the gearing was way off, it was screaming at 65. 235/85's now fill the arches better although still lacking on such a large vehicle. 31:10.50:15 vs 235/85 16 235/85 16 (130 has some lift) Side lugs No issues with rubbing with standard suspension travel Even with this much travel on mega offset rims the spats only required minor trimming it was the wheelboxes and spring mounts where the problems lied. Just my 2p, Will.
  20. I think llovels in bradford will make you up any springs you want, i would also have a word with tomcat as they have some funky springs off the shelf at rather good prices. Will.
