You taking off a Safari tub or a hardtop tub?
It's just a case of undoing everything in sight lifting one end and putting a bit of 4x2 under it. You can manage on your own but help makes it eaier
I thought it might be. its a hard top, but i'm gonna take the top/sides off first. i've got some (un)willing helpers!

Hi,
Is this reasonably easy to do? I've got the bulkhead and seat box off, roof off and now its the rear tub. is there a guide on here? i've searched and googled but with no success.
Thanks

OK well thats good news! I think i'll just have to bite the bullet and go for a full repair section. Thanks for the help guys! no doubt you'll have more questions to answer as this "engine swap" continues!!!

That was my worry. It'd be ok if it wasnt in the curved recess. Am i going to have any problems with old/new bulkhead patterns? Mines a '86 ex-MOD 110. I'm hoping that by doing it all now while i can get to it and make a good job of it i can avoid having to do it again in the future!

Thanks for the swift reply.
The rest of the bulkhead is pretty sound so i think i'll go with the end plates. I wasnt expecting them to be that cheap!
Doeas anyone have any experience with them? are they a good fit?

Hi,
Ive got my 110 stripped down to put a 300tdi in it. I had the great idea that whilst the fron was off i'd tidy up and repair the bulkhead and chassis if it needed it. Sounds like such a good idea! So anyway, like all these jobs its grown legs and theres more rot than i thought, especially in the footwells. However this is reasonably straightforward, the tricky piece is around the passenger air vent flap.
it looks like water has been sitting between the seal and bulkhead, and has eaten away at the nearside edge. (The photo shows it best). Is there a repair panel that i can weld in to replace this? I know there are some for around this area but do they cover this far over? if not i guess the other option is to find a defender to cut the piece out of. any other ideas? i dont think i've got the skills required to fab it!
Also, does anyone know of a good place to get sheet steel in the lincoln area?
Thanks for any input!

Greetings!
I've just fabricated a bracket to allow a second alternator to sit where the Air Con pump would sit. I now have a few Q's!!!
I'm using a lucas alternator from a 2.5 NA block, however this has a thin V type belt pulley. Does anyone know what type of pulley(P/N Please!) to allow me to use the second belt space from the crank, the one at the rear. Also what belt should i use?
Is there anything that you guys in your experience would do with this setup that i may not have thought of?
Thanks!!!

ok cool. Will the one on the box from the RRC be ok to use then?
-
Having got the box out of the donor RRC to go into my 110 i find its an LT77 whith all the bellhousings etc for the 300TDi. If i put it back in am i going to have trouble with the ratios, and end up screaming the nuts off it at 65MPH? Would you suggest that finding an R380 box with 300TDi bellhousings would be a better bet and does anyone have one please!?!?
Cheers,
Dave

Yes
That sounds far too easy for a land rover!!!
-
shift pattern is a double H
just like this
Is that with reverse below the 5? i think thatsmine. will it just go straight in or do i need to do anything to the mounts?
-
RR Classic or Discovery rear axle will fit but as others have said, longer prop required & it won't take the 110's maximum laden weight.
i'll just concentrate on getting the engine in for now then! i think the RRC came with an R380 box, can you tell me how to confirm it is?
-
Yes you can use the power steering it all fits.
The rear axle fits too, if it has the rubber donut to the prop, then you need to change the diff flange to the four hole defender type
Nice one, thankyou very much! is it worth changing the front one aswell? I noticed the front brakes have two hoses, whereas the defender ones only have one. does this mean i need to use the master cylinder from the range rover, or the calipers from the defender? I haven't looked at the rear calipers.

Morning all,
Finally i have managed to find a donor vehicle so my conversion can start! My 1986 110 2.5NA is finally getting its 300TDi!
£500 quid for a range rover classic with a low mileage disco engine in it... Not bad!
So now the questions! Can i use the Power steering? It has the same bolt pattern on the box, 4 bolt, and i'll need to get some pipe work made up but is there anything i need to be aware of?
Also, the range rover has a rear disc axle, can i swap just the rear axles, or do i need to do both?
More will follow, but i've already used the tech library to answer many q's. Fantastic!

Cheers guys,
I managed to find a complete 110 200tdi harness for 30 quid, not bad! Unfortunately, due to being out of the country havent managed to look at the vehicle yet.
