  1. I had a similar issue on my TD5. I managed to remove the small pipe that provides the pressure to the actuator (connects from actuator to the steel pipe in the inlet air flow) and then using my compressor and blow gun applied about 20PSI up the pipe. This then made the actuator move the connecting rod and wastegate. I kept the air going on-off and applied plenty of WD40, following advise on many posts on this forum and its now all OK Not sure how similar the 300tdi is in this respect to the TD5.
  2. My 2001MY has the same setup with the adjustable mounting rail. I am also after a part number for the rear crossmember. I would like a genuine crossmember without extensions for a 2001MY TD5 Defender 90. Can anyone help?
  3. Just spent 4 hours removing the fuel tank in my 2001 MY Defender 90 TD5 so that I can remove the cross-member. Rave and Haynes both mention two bolts at the front of the tank that secure it to a cross-member....on mine its not there. Instead there are four bots at the base of the tank that secure a steel guard/carrier and two bolts through the rear cross-member that secure the same guard/carrier. The tank is held in by the small space and that when the guard is fitted nothing can move. Hope this helps the head scratching for someone else. Blood, sweat and tears......oh and a gob full of diesel trying to syphon the tank
  4. Does a 110 have a rear mounted tank.....if so may have a cross-member for one of those? Things are getting better and better
  5. No chance. Purchased 11 months ago. My fault should have unpacked and checked it when I bought it.
  6. Hi. This is my first post so please bear with me. I am just starting on the journey of replacing the cross-member on my 90 TD5 2001MY. I bought a new CM last year and it has sat in the garage still packaged whilst I talked a lot about the change and done even less. Now I have un-wrapped it I am disappointed with the quality (like many other posters on hear) and intend to blank as much as possible just like the Les Henson article and photos (fantastic post). However, I have just discovered that the mounting points for the fuel tank are different on the existing CM compared to the new one, so I think I have bought a CM for a 300TDi rather than a TD5, not so much of a problem as I can always drill and tube some mounting holes to suit. But what else is different? Am I wasting my time and should I buy the correct cross-member? Any one that can help would be appreciated.
