  1. On my Freelander this C42 radio/cassette requires a (long) small allen key to be inserted and turned anti-clockwide to release the fixing lugs. Don't think the previous poster's suggestion of using a long pin is going to work.
  2. There are two versions of the C42 radio/cassette head unit. L/R part number XQD101730PMA (VDO part number 22DC597/60R) and XQD000050PMA (VDO part number 22DC597/60L). They appear to be similar, same functionality, have the same connectors, and in the second-hand market seem to be used interchangeably on Freelanders and Discos (and normally just referred to as the C42 unit). While the L/R part numbers are different, the VDO part number differs by just a /L or /R. Does anyone know the difference between the two units? (and it's not that one is for RHD and one for LHD vehicles).
