One other point, as Newark is in Lincolnshire and the police there are clamping down on Land Rovers etc, makes me nervous about heading to a show in the heart of a county where I might get stopped by the police wanting to look at my vehicle.
And what's wrong with your vehicle that makes you 'nervous'....?
When my insurance and MOT have run out or i'm running with 4 bald tyres after 8 pints of Scrumpy, I get a bit nervous. But if nothing is broken and it's all legit, then i've got nothing to worry about.

It is rather poor form to ask for improvements, get promised those improvements by a new company with a good track record, and then not go!
But worse still, to then go to the show of the old company who you complained about!!!
But is it the fault of the organiser or the Billing site itself....?
My view is that it is too crowded at Billing, too many campers shoehorned in. Each year there seems to be more static caravans and less places to camp. Are Live promotions going to resolve that...? Will they sell less tickets to keep numbers down or move some of the statics...?
And Security, it's a public right of way through the campsite. You can't stop light fingered Tom, Dick and Pikey wandering around admiring your stuff. The security they have on duty is next to useless. Can Live promotions resolve this issue...? 2009 seemed particularly bad for thefts.
Me, I'm going to Newark in the hope of a clean toilet and a smaller queue for the shower in the morning. If it's carp i'll know that when I complain about Billing in 2010 at least I will have tried something else.

They must be behind other forces, I'm pretty sure most people have a real time link to the experian/etc databases which show insurance and Mot. Once we've got your name we can even tell you how many points you've got on your licence.
The only problem is that it can be out of date - despite it being real time. Even with MOT's now being computerised, it's not uncommon for a car to show it as expired when the owner waves his certificate under your nose.
But, back to topic - if you weren't stopped at the time in London I wouldn't worry about it. The Met police wouldnt be chasing you for a driving document offence.
They leave that to the Cops in North Wales.

There's a group of ORRPers heading out in the summer. Although I'm curious about this food thing. I was aware it was there but I didn't think it was that well enforced.
Do they search vehicles or are they relying on peoples honesty....?
If it's the latter then I'm laughing.
This is the link of the planning stage if you want some reading, http://www.orrp.com/smf/index.php?topic=29336.0

Just checking to make sure I'm not banned.

It should be a Pay-as-you go type solution like with poor peoples mobile phones.
The more posts you have, the more you need to contribute or your account gets frozen.
That way, eyeryone is happy.

I ran a soldered ring terminal from the battery (fused 5" from battery) to a switch in the dash. the switch was rated higher than the light, as was the heavy wire I was given. So I have no relay.
Why would you need a relay when it's fed direct from the battery.....?

Yeah, don't call the cops..... we're busy.

I stuck with the co-pilot on mine and have no problems with it.... The internal ariel also seems pretty good as I have no trouble with dropping the signal unlike my old garmin.
If you already use Tom Tom I guess it's what you're used to.

Cow Shed...? I doubt it.
I mean, he'd need to protect all the cows eyes from the welding flashes.

I got my account deleted once..... Which I suppose is kinda like being banned.

I've put on a lot of Weight John....

you've not told landy boy where this place have you..
orrp lurker..
We gave him the URL, but there's a good chance he'll type it out wrongly.

its theft, pure and simple, which bits do you not understand
I don't understand where the 'Dishonest appropriation' is....
Sounds more like a civil dispute to me, but hey, i'm normally wrong about stuff like this.
And if you don't mind, I'll do the 'Sunshine' name calling.
-
sorry but its theft in my book !!!
You need a new book.... or at least one that's not from the Fiction section.

I've not had any dealings with him, but having 'known' of him on various forums for a few years now.. i wouldn't trust him to tie my shoe laces........
So if we only 'know' people from internet forums, how do we know who to trust....?
I know other people have bought stuff from him and are more than happy.

I on the other hand do not intend t sue anyone, merely have come to realize how difficult it is to not be able to get around so well any more !
Blimey...... That's a coincidence then.
As there is also someone called Hillbilly Raider over on the Land Rover Addict forum that posted this yesterday.
What i want to know is this........CAN I SUE THE NATIONAL TRUST???????
What's the chances of that then.

Thanks guys (especially Kev)..... lots of useful but with an override switch as well.
Cheers
Dunk
Yip, You can do what you want as long as they have a switch.
Then you can use the get out of jail line of 'For offroad use only'.

My Turbo pipe had a split in it.
LR wanted £30 or something silly for a 6" length of pipe. The bloke at the parts counter advised me to go to a Hydraulics place just down the road.
They gave me an offcut of the same size free of charge,

Col,
Stephen lives here.
He posts under the name Spacemutt as he does on Orrp.
I'm sure he'll post up the photos again. They looked fantastic, it would make you want to do it in the middle of winter.
There was one in particular of a Rangie breaking the ice as it drove through a stream that looked cracking.
-
There's a couple of places in Inverness that'll hire you a 4X4.
But being hired vehicles, I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to take them offroad.
-
Kev after reading your post, March probably seems like the better month to attempt it than smack bang in the middle of winter, might be a bit more realistic.
Col,
Stephen Cobby who mainly posts on the breakaway Chris Tricker forum (is it just me that finds it difficult to keep up ) tried it in winter with a few other. He posted a load of pics on the old Ezboard ORRP. With snow chains I don't think they got more than a mile before giving up....

I bought a couple of these net things....
From Mobile Storage Systems at Billing. Think they were around a fiver each.
Fit nicely on the side of a Disco cubby and seem very good quality.

Col....
This is the start of the pass at the Ft Augustus side.
The only other way round is to cut through one of the estates and join it about 500yds further up.
But then you are met with this locked gate.
It's been put on in such a way it cannot be lifted from it's hinges, so most people just take a highlift to the padlock and chain.
If you're coming up to do it, give us a shout and i'll see what I can sort with the landowner, I did it when Barvie, Lowie and MZ came up and they left the gate open for us.
There's a bothy at either end so free accomodation is sorted.
On the day we did it we had fantastic views.....
(Sorry about the vehicle - the wife was using the Disco that day. )
Here's a LR to make up for the Suzuki.
Here's
