  1. hi there, is it a disco 1? if so have you had the handbrake gaiter off for any reason? if it isnt fitted back properly it springs the lever just enough to make a contact with the switch. ours did anyway.
  2. hi there, i have been a member of this forum for some time now but i dont post a lot. when i have been making things for my discovery 300tdi it suprises me what things i think of. first of all the safari snorkel- when i was fitting it i couldnt help wonder i could fit a K&N style filter, so out came the cardboard and a new airbox was designed. A few days later the new stainless steel airbox was ready, so now i have k&n performance with the protection of a snorkel! i have also fabricated a back bumper with no corners and around 3 inch less overhang! if any pictures are wanted let me know. plus you can email me about the airboxes as the company that made mine still has my drawings

  4. hi there. my dad owns a 1995 discovery auto what we bought off ebay last december with a nackered gearbox. we bought it and whiped the gearbox straight out as he was building it to be a tow vehicle. so we exchanged the dead gearbox with ashcroft transmissions and fitted a recon gearbox. The disco tows a car trailer with a special welfare unit for people working on the banks of rivers and such, so the disco was needed to be able to tow up banks. anyway, we must have done 50 miles after fitting the gearbox before its first tow to run the new box in. the gearbox was fine for the first tow which was around 100 mile journey. but on the second time towing something the gearbox started making a horrible juddering motion when setting of until the speed picked up over around 15mph. we rang ashcroft and they advised us to take it to a garage they recommended to get it checked out, so we took it. the man at the garage said it was the transfer box and/or the front diff. we changed both of these and still no look. we have allready checked all of the prop shafts and brakes etc. the man at ashcrofts told us to take the gearbox out and he would arrange for someone to pick it up so they could have a look at it, and so they did. after a week the gearbox had arrived back to us so we got it fitted back in. BUT THERE WAS STILL THE JUDDER. we know its the gearbox because when put into P or N the judder goes so it isnt the engine. we have checked the tourque converter plate and it had a new torque converter with the first box change. any idea's lee
