  1. As the project has changed, there's now a new thread at: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=10481 LWT "The Pheonix" Bob
  2. As the subject has changed from the search for a LWT bulkhead top panel to the ongoing status of the project, a new thread was called for. Just to reiterate the status, the LWT bulkhead was ROTTEN! and I happened to have a 90 bulkhead lying about. The problem is that all Ser 2/3's 90/110's are wider than a LWT by about 4" so there were some mods to be done. Before http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2319 After http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2317 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2318 Well the first day of the holidays has been very productive, not only have I done my Xmas shopping, I've evn got the "new" Isuzu engine into the LWT, sorted through the remains of the wiring loom that we cut out of the pickup and got it running. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2321 In order to make the front wheel arch look right, I've added a panel to the outside edge of the footwell. These are made from 2mm steel and welded in place. Before folding http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2322 After http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2323 After fitting this, the old pressing that the wing bolts to, was moved from the old bulkhead to the new bulkhead and the wing fitted. It fits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2324 The last job for Sat. was to replace the clutch slave cyl and fit a grease nipple to the pivot shaft. Most clutch assys. are already drilled with a 1/4" unf hole for a grease nipple to screw into and greasing the shaft stops clutch squeek. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?automodu...si&img=2320 Tomorrow should be the other side.... Bob
  3. The title says it all, Does anybody knw where I can get replacement bearings and thrust bearings for a Ser overdrive?? Bob
  4. Hi Callum, I gave up the LWT bulkhead plan when I realised the state of the rest of the bulkhead. I could have gone down the route of rebuilding it but could not be bothered and I had a 90/110 b/head lying. Pop in some time and see progress. Bob
  5. Well I've just stuck the 90 back together, loaded 6 fire extinguishers and a 14lbs sledge hammer so all I need is the food box and I'm sorted. When are you coming up? I'm down on Sat morn 0900 'ish and will be on .350 if your up...... Bob
  6. That is a good question Ralph. Watch this space, all I've got to do is keep the 90and the 110 going, convert the R/R from VM 2.5 to 200Tdi, strip the Isuzu out the pickup and finish the 110 Hi Cap..... All in all should be finished for Xmas (some time in the future....)
  7. Whats the saying about the best laid plans of mice and men??????????????????? Well the plans changed, someone came around waving pound notes wanting a 2.5 N/A diesel engine and it would have been rude not to take his money! The thinking is now that the LWT is going to get a 2.8 Isuzu engine since I just happen to have one and have just bought the adaptor kit from Iain (the yellow 110 Callum). He ho here we go again... Bob
  8. Just thought I'd throw my tuppence worth in here, CDS started being used in rally cars to reduce the weight and the cage designs are calculated in conjunction with the body of the car. The idea is that when, not if, the car has a woopsy, the body and the cage absorb the impact. This does not hold for off roading in any discipline, where the idea was to withstand the impact, so they could be righted and then carry on. Having been competing in all forms of Off Road motorsport for over 20 years and officiating at rallys for the past 10 + years, I'ld sooner be in a BB caged vehicle than CDS. Bob
  9. Yes thats the one. The chassis works completed and been blasted and painted, the back tub is bolted on and the "new" bulkhead is on awaiting completion. Just need lots more time to get on with it. Bob
  10. Time to reinstate the border patrol me thinks........
  11. Yes thanks, but you're going to have to come up and have a look!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Single Mondeo fans draw 30 amps 'ish on start and run at 17amps so the X-eng switch should be fine. If you're going to use the 2 stage system the main feed to the switch will need to be LARGE and use something like a 35A fuse. A good source of Jumbo fuse box's are Mk 3 Astra's and later Metro's. Can be found in the engine bay of both and if removed with care, you get about 1 m of primary supply cable already fitted. the Output modules are "modular" and can be swapped for what you require. These are the only fuseboxes that I not managed to melt! bob
  13. Thanks for that Ralph, but the plans changed. I've decided that due to the time it would take to build a new bulkhead and then the cost of the vent panel is not worth it so, the plan is now to modify a 90/110 bulkhead that I just "happen" to have in stock. It's off a "D" plate 90 and its solid! Stripped the dash off last night and apart from several live .22 rounds, several "large" hypo needles, several hundered spiders and a little bit of surface rust it does not look like too bad a job! I'll try to remember to do the photo thing as work progresses. Bob
  14. Unfortunately the footwell and side panels won't fit the "new look" bulkhead as I'm having to modify the footwells to 90/110 size. The only part of the job I'm not looking forward to is having to form the recess for the hinges!! Hi Ade, This is me on a tidy up mission again, old R/R and old LWT Oh and old 90 2.5 n/a diesel engine and box. Chuck in a big pile and see what transpires.....
  15. Thanks for the info. I thought it was OK 'till I looked closer... I'm going to rebuild the bulkhead to take 90/110 brake/clutch and throttle as the footwells are scrap anyway. As you can see from the photo its sitting on a shortened R/R chassis (93.9") so the LWT steering was not going to work anyway.
  16. Greetings all, Does anyone "happen" to have a semi decent LWT bulkhead top panel/ vent panel taking up space that they would like to part with? I thought mine was OK 'till I discovered some person had welded it to the bulkhead and as the bulkhead is being rebuilt, the trauma to the top will probably be to much for it! Bob
