  1. Thanks for all the help. Here is what I've found out.Correct me if I'm wrong. 200 Tdi Discovery = 7 inline fusible links wraped in the loom with a gauze material. 300 Tdi Discovery = 6 fuse type links in a black box with the glow plug relay attached. 1 inline fusible link in loom coming from where the loom splits at the glow plug relay to the battery positive terminal. This is a single brown cable wraped in a corrigated plastic tube with a ring on the end.
  2. So a 95 disco has the fusible links in a box,and not in the wiring loom wraped in a gauze like material.
  3. Hello, Does a 95 discovery 300tdi have inline wire fusible links wraped up in gauze behind the battery along the wing, or are the fusible links in the box behind the battery with the glow plug timer relay attached.
  4. Maybe your right ,I'll have a go tomorrow.
  5. I have tested for power at all 3 actuators with no problems, Earth seems to be ok. ECU had a slight sign of water damage but I cleaned it up and resoldered one joint. I opened up the main actuator in the drivers door and all seems fine. I also put new batteries in the fob. When I press the fob the actuator is trying to close every time even though it is closed, what am I missing?
  6. Yes you are right dieseldog69.the Haynes manual has saved me a lot of cash. I think you are right about the previous mechanics bodging. There are wires and relays stuck in a few places which are not in any manual. What I usually do if I have a problem is go look at my donar vehicle parked in the field to see where the wires go.Its a handy reference point. I will scrap it when I'm totally finished my rebuild.
  7. I have just connected it to the negative battery terminal . I better disconnect it again until I find out where it's supposed to go. Feckin Haynes manual again!
  8. Ok ,maybe I haven't connected an earth some where, That glow plug relay has an earth coming off it (thick brown wire) of which I only connected today. How come the engine has started for me no bother!
  9. Hello, Can anyone help me with the following. What is this relay for? Also my central locking is not working. I have put on new doors on my commercial discovery 95. When I try the key fob the lights flash, the central locking ECU ticks, and the solenoids energise. But there does not seem to be enough power to flip the locks up and down. When I press the button 12 volts shows on the multimeter for the rear door solenoid plug. If I put a small 12v battery on it ,it flips up and down with no problems. Any ideas.?
  10. I used a c section with braces in the end for strength.
  11. Just a few pictures of the finished and painted bumper.
  12. Here are some more pictures if anyone is interested. This is the tracking set up.The black tape helps keep the belt on track. These bolts adjust the tracking. I used the pulleys from an old piller drill and got a shaft turned to mount it on.This was the most expensive part of the build. The motor is on a hinged plate and i found that a spring from an old bed holds it at the correct tension. I pushed the bearings out of a 82mm wide(72mm dia) pallet truck wheel. Then had flanges made with a grub screw on it so it would lock to the shaft to become the drive wheel. During the build i tried to source those stepped pulleys without any luck.Does anyone know of a supplier? :
  13. Well here is what i got done today. Not finished grinding it down because i ran out of disks.Going to fit a pipe through the marked circle on the photo for a high lift jacking point. The plan is to use a hole saw to drill out the bumper and weld in a pipe.To finish off i will reinforce the back of the bumper with a couple of plates and bars..
  14. The reason that i havent made a hole new bumper is for a couple of reasons.Mainly being time and money and the list of other jobs i have to complete before i can get the disco on the road.I also have to weld in a new floor in the load area which i seam to be avoiding because the thinner the metal gets the worse my welding gets.I have decided to get the front looking good and work my way back to the boot floor and crossmember.
  15. Thanks for all the replys.Always good to have a laugh eah!!
