  1. hello, the other day i went to unlock my passenger door on my defender. i used the key, and i automatically notcied there was nothing connect to the barrely on the ohter end. so i can only open it from the inside. my question is, how do you take off the door panel correctly. i tried the other day, but i couldnt get it off. i have a 1997 defender 90 LE HARDTOP. any help would be gladly appreciated. thanx adam
  2. i have a 1997 Defender 90 LE edition. the ECU is inside the engine bay. i have a V8 4.0 Liter engine. , i was windering if there was an extension kit for this ecu, so that i can mount it inside under the seat. i went to the SIMTEK site, and when i went to the ECU section it said it was "under construction" any more help would be appreciated adam
  3. hey thanx guys for the help. ill chek out and see if i can find anything to do wiht SIMTEK. the ECU is place in the engine bay. thats why it quit on me in the first place. i was thinking of moving it to go under my seat. i recently insolated them so it would work great. thanx adam
  4. i was wondering if any of you guys could help me out. after the whole mishap before, i want to find a way (if possible) to water proof my ECU. would it over heat it? does it need cooling? is there some kind of extension wiring kit so i can wire into my car under the seat? any suggestions would be great thanx adam
  5. hey thanx for all the fast replies and welcoming me. it turned out to be in fact the ECU, it was wet and it had to be taken apart to dry. the toher problem for not cranking once it was brought home was the fact that the crank sensor was out. luckily i didnt get any water in the intake. but i still have one more problem. now the alternator is making a SSSSSSS noise when its running. i think since the water was muddy some dirt and other stuff could have gotten in. is there a cheaper way to fix it, like maybe taking it apart and cleaning everything and lubing it up?. im suprised the dealer didnt charge me more than he did. i had to pay up 300 BUCKS. thanx adam
  6. hey guys,i got a 1997 defender 90 i have a problem that most of you guys can probably help me with. a few days ago i went offroading wit a few buddy's. we found a few puddle about 2 feet deep a little less. so we drove through them a few times. as soon as i got out of the puddle for the last time befor heading home, the engine just quits on me. all the lights switches and anything electrical still worked. so i pop it in park and try to start it again. instead of starting, i jsut get a ticking noise. and once it makes the "ding dong "noise once it lets me crank. but it wont start., i checked everything from disconnected wires and waited for everything to dry no difference.i checked so see if i was getting spark, and i wasnt. i also pulled out all the spark plugs and cranked it to see if water got in, and there was nothing that squirted out.i had my truck towed back by my buddy and waited to see the next day. so as i try to start it today it does the same thing, but this time it wont crank , and now it wont let me take it out of park.(i had fully charged the battery the night before) . when i try to take the key out of the ignition it wont let me telling me that it thinks im not in park.(wich i am) the only way i got it in neutral before was by putting the diff in N. and now none of my dash lights come on. i am clueless on what i should check for. i was maybe thinking of finding a way to bypass the restriction on the transmission thing. but i dont knwo where to look to do so. i was hoping any of you guys could help me out. and suggestion would be appreciated THANx!!
