  1. My original (ungalvanised) Land Rover chassis lasted 22 years so I can't see a problem with Marsland chassis being merely Land Rover chassis that have been galvanised.
  2. Ok thanks for the fast response saves me bidding on the wrong ones.
  3. I am currently looking for a pair of side panels with windows and have been told the station wagon sides are the same for the 90 and 110 is this true ? Mine is a 90 truck cab at the moment. Topic title should be CSW sides but predictive writing on phone changed it and I can't edit it on the phone :-)
  4. Halfords do sell them I bought a couple recently so I can now read the speedo at night :-)
  5. If its Britpart it could be No F@@@king Use :hysterical:
  6. I'm planning on moving the battery in my 90 into a battery box in the tub. Looking at cables there is a Hugh range of sizes (10mm2 unto 60mm2) Can anybody tell me the best size to use. Gary
  7. Fitted mine about six months ago, excellent bit of kit.Roof console sounds interesting.
  8. I did both mine this way as i didn't want to cut the seals and yes it is heavy but too bad. gary
  9. Just been out to have a look and there are nine 6mm nuts and bolts on each one.
  10. I have a set like them on my 90. Through the large holes in the front are smaller holes in the back and they bolt on to the tub through the small holes.
  11. Hi Looks like a good way to fit a 300 engine. Did you have to change much else? I have a 200 in my 90 and if/when it dies I'd like to put a 300 in but I'm planning a galvanised chassis hopefully before that happens and I'd rather not chop the chassis about to make a 300 engine fit so this looks like the way to go.
  12. Link to recent post:- http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=64610
  13. It has an Anderson socket on the battery box. The seats are mounted using the original four bolt mounting So it's easy to remove them if I have to.
  14. Just changed from a pair of cobra monacos to some nice recaros out of a Rover 75 vitesse. Comfort as well as support. The cobras were very supportive but not comfy when out all day.
  15. Hi I was with NFU (£280 last year) they wanted £420 this year so i've just changed to Frank Pickles £153
  16. Heres another side exit exhaust spotted by a friend in the local B&Q carpark, also check out the new style snorkel:-
  17. That's what I was thinking because I have a parts book and they were not listed in there only the upper column assembly.
  18. Hi I'm trying to find the part numbers for the two bearings in the upper steering column on a 90 (1990) can't find them in the parts lists that I have. Any help greatly appreciated.
  19. Hi I did mine last week and put the small end of the spring down as shown in the tech archive and the old spring came out that way. Just checked in the Landrover Defender manual and that says small end up so don't know if it makes much differance but i'm sure someone will be along to say wether or not it matters. Gary
  20. I'm not doing the transfer box Les. Thanks Western
  21. I'm going to do an oil change on my 90 gearbox (lt77) i can see the drain plugs for the main box and the extension box but can only see one filler/level plug. The extension box has an oil pick up pipe and pump so i assume this gets its oil from the main box,is this correct or have i missed something. I can't see any mention of a filler/level plug for the extension box in the Land Rover workshop manual or the Haynes.
  22. Quite a few interesting comments so far. Would i be able to use my LT77 gearbox with a Disco v8 engine? Would i need the 90 v8 chassis or are the Disco engine mounts different? Which v8 engine would be easiest to fit? I'm thinking 3.5 with carbs might be best. The 90 would be getting a lift kit as well so if i can use my gearbox,a relacement standard chassis & all the bodywork it will still have a lot of the original car left. The car is my toy for offroad & greenlaning but would be still on road a bit. The insipation behind this is the Mark Evans 100" hybrid.I know he used a modded Rangie chassis but i'd like to do a 90" version.I have the series on Dvd and have watched it several times. http://www.markevans.co.uk/acatalog/A_4x4_is_Born.html
  23. Hi At the moment i have a 1990 Truck cab 90 with a Defender 200Tdi engine fitted. The bodywork is not too bad apart from a couple of scabs on the bulkhead the chassis has had some patching up (before i got it) and now needs a couple more patches doing (tomorrow hopefully) I am giving serious thought to rebuilding onto a new chassis but also changing it to a V8. Would buying a Discovery V8 to strip for parts be a good way to get what i need (as long as the engine is good) What other parts off the Disco would be needed? Would my LT77 gearbox be ok or would i need to change the box? I also have a pair of 300Tdi Defender axles so would probably use these with new suspension. Which chassis should i go for (what make)is a galvanised one worth the extra cost? I would be changing the bulkhead for a better one(poss galvanised) The plan would be to keep the 90 running as long as poss while getting to rolling chassis stage then transfer the bodywork. Gary
