  1. Hi my freelander has developed a grinding noise when slowing down,it started some time ago and i thought it was the brakes but using brakes or free wheeling in neutral the noise was still there(it is only noticeable under 10 mph).I left it for a while and the noise got worse so i change the vcu support bearings the noise was not as bad so i changed the brake pads but its still doing it,the vcu/diff mounts were also changed last year.I did notice when changing the front pads that i could turn the wheel freely for a few degrees is that normal is there meant to be any free play?also it sounded though it was grating on the drivers side hub when turning backwards and forwards within the freeplay area without brake shoes fitted.I am hoping its a bearing its a W REG(2000)1.8 petrol 48,000 miles any help would be grately appreciated. thanks
  2. any pics or information as to what im looking for on the rear subframe? (i have changed diff mounts to test and still the same)
  3. Its mainly occuring when i turn into right hand junctions and the passenger side rear wheel judders or it does it slightly when pulling away the same side i think.
  4. i thought it was the suspension, somebody else said cracked chassis or Sub frame mount broken aint got a clue where to look on vehicle for those problems.
  5. I have a w reg 2000 freelander (45,000 miles)and it has developed a judder/banging at rear wheels when turning at junctions etc(under power)and sometimes pulling away, strange thing is it does not do it all the time,i think it does it more with passengers aboard,i have had a quick read but not sure what to think! Its not the rear diff mounts i undid the front one and its ok,checked the left and right ones with torch and they looked ok aswell,i thought they would be as these were changed around 6 months ago,I also did the vcu tippex test and the vcu is also ok just hope its not the ird any advice would ge great thanks
