  1. SO I should be seeing 12volts on the exciter wire at the dash with the ignition on but the engine off?
  2. Sorry meant to say that the is no charge light when the engine not running but the ignition is on but when the engine is running the battery seems to be charging
  3. Afternoon, Quick question i have just dropped a in a 200 tdi into what was a NA diesel. at the same time the bulk head was changed so now got round to wiring everything up. I got the engine to start no problems. But i am not getting any battery charge light on the dash but the battery is charging at 14 and bit volts. I have tested the continuity (which was ok) of the wire from the back of the dash all the way back to the alternator on the b terminal Should i see a voltage on this wire (using a multimeter) ? also tested the warning light bulb which was ok too. thanks for any Input

  10. I know there are a few people on this forum that are doing this event.... the event web site has been updated www.transilvania-trophy.com hmm 200K in one day + my nav = need to build a bigger fuel tank
  11. cilpx2, Some interesting info, So the above image is the sort of out put i would get from that Garmin "Digital Atlas of Romania 2008" disc that you posted the Link to? The detail looks good. What kit would/do you use to run this, pc or Garmin unit?
  12. I think that landkeeper is talking about one of these... warn Series 9 DC winch as this i what i have.. great winch fairly quick and holds a lot of rope..
  13. I have the same winch and i have just strip and serviced it. Most normal splined motors will fit eg the warn xp motors or the bow motors etc... no fixing plate needed just bolts to that end plate. Also if the winch has been sitting a while (and used off road in the wet) then most likely the in drum brake will have set solid.. If you need any picture shout as i have not put mine back together yet. hope this helps..
  14. there is a video page on the web site http://www.transilvania-trophy.com/media-video.php think these are the official videos of the last couple of years.. So how many UK teams are there going to be? We have put in two teams (four cars) 21 and 31.... Should be fun
  15. Thanks Filipe, see you at the start line I have heard lots good things about the event and it seems to be very popular, registration opened just before Christmas and its now pretty much full.... as for plasticbadger you could always help attach the body work .. and gasket **cough** iam not sure you are in a position to say any thing
  16. yep registered and payed team 21 and its 490 euro per person not that makes much of a difference at the moment now i just need to get the truck together ...
  17. Dont think it would be the cold, most likely a leaky bead.. if you offroad with the truck. The cold can expanding / contracting air in a tyre but not too much, defiantly not with the temp ranges you find in this country
  18. Quick question now the weather is starting to turn... what are the affects of using a plasma line which has been in muddy water, a hard frost over night and then used the next morning (ie still frosty). Is this a bad thing to do? or would there be no ill effects.. I know prob some thing as simple as putting a towel over the drum would stop it frosting up..... But thanks for your input...
  19. there was this yesterday afternoon:- Blundering workmen cut major Docklands fibre
  20. Iam going to add a few points about muddybottom... The "fleecing" (as smo puts it ) is for the year and is how our insurance works this also means that we can (and have) used other sites with less hassle. Also there is only one site the two areas that are talked about are at different ends of the same private estate. The original area was under forestry control and they decided they did not want us there any more and came up with a list of reasons why, it was going to too much expense an effort to meet the requirements so the site was moved onto non forestry land the "big muddy field". This new area has not even been running for a year yet so there is still lots or work to be done, it not like we are starting with a quarry or some sort of other pre-made feature so it will take time and things will be changing. As iam sure any body on here who runs events or even play site knows you cant please every one.. People use to tell me the original site was to "extreme" an you could only get round with 35 simex's and winches, now the same people tell me the new area is to easy and boring... we also recover people if they ask for help, we dont charge for recovery like i heard of some sites doing. we also ask people where their recover point is and yes some time things to get pull off the stuck vehicle but only because the recovery point was not up to the job. if someone has any problems all they have to do is talk to us. On another note I like to go to other play sites which is why iam also a member of other clubs like the shires and hbro and this link may also help... www.paynplay.co.uk
  21. For my old 91 D1 its quite easy ( prob a hanyes one spanner rating ) to do.... remove the center console, then move the dash retaining screws etc working up from the foot wells, remove steering wheel and instrument pod, lift the dash clear and the heater units is in front of you. If you just want to change the martrix the heater unit will split in half as unscrews and clips. I allow about 4 hours to do it. Tho would take me a bit longer now i have fitted an internal cage.. hope this helps
  22. They will fit but will not give you a 2 lift that they would on the 90. This is because the disco is a heavy truck (all those carpets and nice stuff ) and fair bit heavier than a 90. If the springs are the same length, then the thing to do (if you can find it) is to compare the spring rates of the 90 lifted springs against the standard disco ones then you should be able to see if they will give you any lift and how much... from google:- hope this helps...
  23. I have turned up and payed at the gate lots of times don't think this year will be any different.....
  24. what about this type of thing? xj removable top project not sure if it would work to good with a disco but may be a range rover... cos i know you are prob better at welding than sewing but then again.......
