  1. Make sure you dont over tighten the shock where it mounts on to the axle, other than that i cant really see where you might go wrong.
  2. onions, Sounds like they could be the wrong shocks.. I used the cheap Armstrong shocks on my truck when i first got it (as each conner had a different shock oil and gas ) and these shocks lasted well for the price and i used them a lot offroad. Is the rest of your suspension standard ? do you use it offroad or give it beans over speed bumps ? that could be maxing out the rear travel. Some where like paddocks should have Armstrong's on the shelf...
  3. I guess You have done but in your list you don't say... Did you check the radius arm bushes and bolts?
  4. Mad, Iam in Brockenhurst and will be going up to Camberley next week some time. PM Me if i can be of any help Paul
  5. Can you still get Colway Tyres? If so where from? I seem to remember some one some where saying that they had gone bust..... Thanks
  6. My tip would be to use some copper grease on the bolts...
  7. I have been running a alloy one for about a year it now has 2 groves warn into each bottom end of the slot.. was thinking about going SS but for the mo i have just flipped the current one over. where i mainly play its very gritty/muddy/clay stuff. One con of the alloy fairlead might be if you stuff the nose off the truck in to a bank and a rock is forced into the fairlead this would damage the slot and then your rope.. just my thoughts
  8. Jim thanks, I didnt want to hit it too much as it was all working when i took it a part least i now know i was doing the right thing.
  9. Hi all, I have had my comeup DV9000 winch for a year now and its been used a lot so i thought i would strip it and clean it through. I have seen the tech writeup and thats great but how do i get the motor off the cast bracket? I know there are two long bolts that go through the motor housing and into the cast bracket, as i have undone these and i can now rotate the motor. I dont want to force it as i know the casting cant take to much shock stress (ie from a hammer ) tried a few taps with a soft faced mallet but it wouldn't separate. Also who would be best to go to for spares and i need some new nylon bushes... the current ones have got quite thin ..... thanks for the help Paul
  10. Nige, this on is on wetroads.co.uk Do a find for "Wattons Ford" on this page wetroads.co.uk. been meaning to go have a look at it
  11. like i said its a routing problem with your isp cipx2 has cleverly linked you through an open proxy server... so information from your computer is going to another server (from which you can see the advert) and then on to the web site server that you wanted.. so in affect you are using a different traffic route to get to the website.. so Anglo-Frenchman i would still drop an email to your isp support... you never know they might fix it one day.... secure (https) open proxy servers can be handy if you want to get round local network access rules too
  12. I put my clutch wear down to:- 1, my bad driving 2, drive assist winching in axle deep clay/sandy bogs with simex copy tires. 3, a poorly 200tdi which on cold mornings means i have to slip the clutch to pull away in high range
  13. out of interest why not? people upgrade there drive train eg axle etc.. so why not the clutch
  14. Your problem is most likely with the isp (the company you connect to the Internet with) as it sound like they have a routing problem. meaning that traffic from your computer trying to get to www.orange.fr is being lost... One to test this (but not always as they might be firewall the trace traffic) is to do a trace route from one of your computers to www.orange.fr and see how far the traffic gets: from your windows xp machine (cos i dont know about vista) goto start --> run in the run command txt box type "cmd" and open, this should bring up a black command window in this window type "tracert www.orange.fr" or if that does nothing then use the ip some one else gave. the output of above will give the route that traffic is trying to take across your isp network. So i would call your isp support or email them (some times cheaper ) ....
  15. hmm install firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
  16. It's a clutch plate that's not fully round, but composed of segments look here google images dont know what it would be like offroad...... HFH iam sure will tell us
  17. Watching this thread with interest as I went through a Borg/Beck in the about the same time frame I just chucked in a new B&B friction plate for the moment as all the other parts of the clutch where fine...
  18. dan, universal-turbos.com in Fordingbridge seem to do re-con turbos and sell em... let us know how you get on with that company in Portsmouth as i have an engine that could do with a scrub up paul
  19. morning all, Can any one tell me if the heater fan unit on a 300 tdi is the same as the 200 tdi unit.. I am guess not because of the completely different interior. But i thought if any one would know they would likely be on here thanks paul
  20. have a watch of this.... not tried it yet so don't know if it works ... So do post back your results with pictures
  21. yes been there with all the welding when i get some time i will machine up some spacers for a body lift and prob have to redo every body mount too.... Not fitted those springs but when looking at them the back ones tend to always be thicker as they are stronger. A lot of people ( disclaimer:- not saying you have ) think that the bigger springs go on the front cos the engine is heavy... which is not the case. Is your chassis full of mud? as this can weigh a lot.. Dont know if any of this will help... Paul
  22. different springs affect the height not the shocks.. but if you are using standard height springs use the standard height shocks etc...
  23. if you are bored have a read of this ..... compass info
  24. for interest here is a pic form when i changed the gearbox the Borg and Beck clutch is on the right, the other clutch i don't know the make... there is quite a difference in the number of springs between the too...
  25. AT the moment i have been running a Borg and Beck clutch on my 200tdi Is there a heavy duty clutch i can fit eg one from a def 130 or a v8. as a combination of bigger simex copy tryes, lots of offroad miles, winch assist driving through bumper deep bogs, and some heavy offroad towing has meant the my current clutch has only seen just under a year of use and is now slipping. so is there a more substantial clutch i can use or should i just learn to drive as always thanks for any input Paul
