  1. I'd put the more powerfull one up front as its the one you are more likely to use. But I would not use 2 hydraulic winchs... reason.... what if you have a mechanical failure and have no engine ? if one is electric e.g. the rear, you have a chance of pulling your self out of trouble even if say flood your engine with water ! just my view ! I have a Husky on the front of my Disco... slow but oh biy can it pull for a long time ?
  2. Very interesting post... Just wanted to add that I am no welder but do dabble in this demon art... Have tried MIG welding several times and yes its easy to make a weld look good its not so easy to actualy make a decent weld.. I use Gas welding... find it easy enough and I like the fact you can "play" with the pool very handy on old rusty disco sills. only down side is the heat covers a large area and needs to be watched by a "fire watch", but I think for automotive rerpairs offers some of the strongest results.... but let it cool naturaly !
  3. just a observation... on this forum (which I'm new too) and others people seem to start a thread with Bio Diesel and end up on Veggie oil discussion ... Bio fuel from a pump is not the same at all as either new or re-used chip fat..... Bio has a lower tax rate on it than Derv..... nice of the government to shaft us on the sun flower oil ! although if running bio diesel with a mix of new oil from the supermarket I wonder if they could tell on a road side check??
  4. I have OE disco roof rack half length type one and use it as a tree slider... I have had branches pope my Alpine lights !!! now I use the rack as protection and up till now it has worked very well ! bought it 2nd hand for £35
  5. Hi Thought I'd post my first post in here, I'm on a few other forums and have just found this one ! I have a slightly tweeked 200TDI that I use as a second car for fun !! I live in Liverpool, England and enjoy pulling most cars apart and re-building them and when I can giving my Disco a "test" or 2 either green lanes or pay and play ! Regards Mark
