  1. They are in business. Hughie did some welding & other work for me last month. Mobile number is 07768980924. Very good work & very helpful.
  2. If its a DC supply into the cradle (from the mains adaptor) then it should be ok to connect to the vehicle electrics - just get the necessary connectors and make sure YOU PUT A FUSE IN THE SUPPLY. Using an inverter if the cradles take DC is just adding complexity / wasting power. If its AC then the inverter route is the option.
  3. Further to public reply Last issue (March /April) carrying add for 2002 - 51 4.0 p38 Silver, 67k miles 12 month MOT £5650. Contact - keith@paynenet.co.uk John
  4. I'm a member of the Register - must admit there is not much about events etc that are relevant for those who live up here (Inverness) but thats a simple fact of population size. There is a small for sale section - it varies as to what's for sale 4-6 would be maximum size - the web will provide a greater choice - the plus of members adds is that you should reduce the chance of buying a dud. Articles tend to be about days out / off road courses; reprint of LR press about super new RR sports etc all for very reasonable (ie double average salary) costs. A few items about projects / technical tips. That said for £30 quid a year I support it. I did buy my current RR through the member adds and got a very well maintained model.
  5. I'd suggest you try Spybot-S&D I find it v good at detecting spyware, adware, and other unnecessary stuff that websites download when we are surfing and going about our business on the web. A google (other search engines are available) search will find a download site - its fairly intuitive to use. It might not fix all your problems and you may be surprised about the amount of other stuff on your machine. Picking up other comments - I'd agree Norton isn't best Macafee is better and I'd suggest firefox rather than IE - I also tend to clear cookies at the end of sessions. Good luck John
  6. I'd be interested in the details of your socket install & photo's when your done. I've been thinking of similar - but i've so far not managed to some up with a solution that looks neat - I try not to make too many holes etc in the bodey work / interior despite my RR being more a mobile radio shack!
  7. Thanks for the replies, I have sorted the problem, removed selector shaft and discovered problem was a piece of plastic from the detent handle had been forced (by my overtightening) down the gap between the outer tube and inner shaft. When I got it removed the shaft moved freely. The various comments re additional washers etc are very helpful and I will probably adopt / adapt some of them when doing the final reassembly. Thanks to all - gave me the confidence to keep going
  8. My auto selector detent is stuck, does anyone know how the lever selector mechanism is supposed to work? I assume there is a spring somewhere to return the shaft once the detent button is released. I suspect I may have broken it when I was reassembling and overtightened the hex nut at the top. Mine is VIN JA - without the interlock microswitches ?? Parts and service manual don't provide much info as to how the thing is meant to function. Someome must know?? At present I can pull the selector from P through to 3 via reverse !! Think this is recipe for trouble on the road. Thanks in anticipation.
