  1. Hi All, So early casings for AEU2522 with Ashcroft CV's are we all using One Shot grease now or oil......... Ashcroft recommend CV grease I believe, (which I did have it there), wondered if anyone was still using oil, or even one shot grease and top up with EP90 to the level plug ? Axle seal is still in. Mine are now all nice a clean after the strip down. Cheers Regards Les
  2. Hi all, Finally got a few mins to myself, when it was dry - jacked up rear offside (dont forget only thing left in the front is the diff) zero rotation .................... into Neutral, centre diff unlocked - checked with spanner - still zero rotation, looks like rear diff lock stuck in ! Wibbling at mo trying to get it to unlock !
  3. Dave, front axle is currently down to just the tube, I pulled the air line off the solenoid to check it was not engaged all seems free. its always possible the rear is stuck in , but would'nt have thought that have an effect on the centre diff/front end
  4. Going to try sticking everything in N and seeing the centre diff is stuck in by turning the prop
  5. CV's cleaned out, no signs of damage, they are still tight but they aint done much Any ideas of what to try on the transmission side to see if anything jammed ?
  6. Yes, when I had both wheels off the ground, the opposite wheel rotated the opposite way but only with the transfer box in neutral.
  7. Pulled half shafts from CV's one of the "C" clips holding the shaft into the CV was broken ?? The alloy collar has slid up the spline about 20mm on the long shaft, the one with the broken C clip if this has any bearing ??
  8. As far as I am aware they were, Ashcroft HD Cv's one piece. one thin shim and circlip holding cv into stub axle. Drove fine on Saturday, just went to get her off the drive at early o'clock Sunday morning to go to Newbury and locked, you can see the scuff marks on road as though front locker was in and not allowing diff to do its job when turning, and steering in unbelieably heavy, when stationary and to suffle to get it to move to get it back on the drive !
  9. Well here we go .. Fault - Steering jams on full lock Jacked front end up, both wheels of ground, wheels wont turn either way, transfer box in neutral wheels rotate as expected. transfer back into high, passenger side down - wheel locked - would not move either way no matter what gear/transfer box was in Lift other wheel up off ground and on stand turn steering, all moves left-right fine, full lock to full lock Off stands, try and move it, as long as steering moved a little each way fine, go to full lock and it jams solid, ( drivers side wheel seems to lean more than passenger side but that might just be the camber) with a bit of shuffling I can get it straight again. Up on stands once again, strip front end, both CV's seem to be fine, but a bit tight - was there an issue with Ashcroft CV's burring ?????? Going to clean them out and report back Any idea's .....................I'm at a total loss Cheers Chaps
  10. I managed with just enough room to open the door and get out - with my svelte frame that was about 400 mm, which ever way you look at it its better then doing it outside in the wet

  13. Would it not be easier to drain it and see how much comes out...... then pour it back in /top up to the recommended amount for a drain and refill that would give you a starting point ?? and you would have at least a known amount of oil in there rather that just adding with no real idea Oil change approx 5 Litres Dry fill approx 9 Litres

  19. Well I've certainly been there on several occasions, so can relate to what you are saying. In the end, I made a weekly list of what needed doing, I set myself a task before I walked into the garage of what I was doing that night, so there was no wandering in there poking stuff for an hour and faffing before deciding what to do as I has a clear idea of what I was trying to achieve. Sunday started another list, taking off what I had done and added new stuff so the list didn't look to daunting lol Similar to taking it apart again...... I'm setting goals for each time I go out
  20. What he ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ said At least get something back on it
