  1. thanks, have fitted a new slightly thicker gasket below lever location ring, seems little tighter and less movement, will test run tomorrow. i appreciate that lever movement will always be a bit sloppy.
  2. as the lever snapped right at the "ball" of the selector there was nothing to grip & years of gunge firmly held it in. had no option but to remove top cover. springs all recovered & new ones bedded in with grease, all gears worked perfectly - i simulated action of selector before fitting - all worked ok. grub screw fitted ok. however you have made me think about the felt ring under gear lever locating ring. a composite material (not felt ) ring was supplied with new gear lever, on checking this today, i`ve found that this has literally disintegrated, presumably when it was torqued down when locating ring was refitted . I will replace with a felt or similar ring and hopefully will take up play in gearlever. thanks to all for input, want to get it better as we enjoy driving the lancashire and yorkshire dales & that means lots of gear changes !! -- in between pub stops !
  3. yes. ballbearings remained in place ok when i removed top plate. local dealer suggested i replace springs - they advised that of the three springs to be replaced , the reverse spring has greatest resistance. they supplied replacements and identified the reverse spring. all fitted as directed - still puzzled. Thanks for feedback.
  4. thanks, will relook in LR manual -- it`s a bit vague when it comes to LT95 gearbox top end detail. Have tried web sites for PDF down loads - no success so far -- maybe someone can suggest some sites I could try. Doesn`t stop me driving the old girl --- my granddaughter christened her Berel.
  5. Hi, I have an `84 110 V8 CSW in good nick. Gear lever snapped right at base unfortunately whilst parked across a mates drive ! Fitted a new lever and detent springs. Problem is while the 1st & 2nd gears engage ok also reverse, the "gate" for 3rd & 4th is now very slack and I have to stir about to engage. I did`nt have this problem before. Any ideas what I may have missed. Thanks.
