I haven't looked at the latest UN tender, but I didn't think they required a decent level of side blast protection, as you say they are B6 which is a ballistics rating and has little bearing on the load the door hinge or latch will have to withstand - it could be armoured with aramids or hppe and still withstand the ballistic threat (except ss109). If you look at current European armourers which who are building to a decent spec and you'll find that 9mm high hardness steel door armour has necessitated properly engineered door hinges and considerable reinforcement to the door cheek around the latch to prevent stress cracking from the extra load. Do you find the crews actually use those additional shoot bolts on the doors? By the time you've fiddled with that ridiculous r-clip you've got to wherever you were going anyway
  2. I agreed with everything you wrote right up to the bit about OE door locks and hinges being okay on armoured toyotas. They haven't been adequate for years with the evolution from ballistic threat to side-blast threat. Find me any 3 or 2m side blast tested armoured Land Cruiser that's worth riding in, no reputable armourer uses them without reinforcement
  3. Either repair it or leave it. If you have to weld it then use TIG ideally, or if using MIG make sure to overlap your stop/starts
  4. That's a 300tdi era bulkhead, mines the same. They don't foul anything on my discovery 200tdi on short bellhousing lt77

  7. My mate has that Axminster saw, I really like it. It's a lot better than my ancient Clarke saw. Do yourself a favour and get an M42 Bimetal blade for it, the standard HSS blades aren't up to much Axminster in action
  8. I wouldn't consider a plasma for cutting mitres on hollow section, far better to spend less money on an Evolution Rage chop saw or a budget horizontal bandsaw. Rage = quick and loud Bandsaw = slower but almost silent
  9. It's only little, it'll fit in your mini boot no problem, especially if you lift up the lower shelf bit
  10. I'm in Uttoxeter on the weekends, near Cannock Chase on weekdays, and work in Walsall if that helps anyone. I'm probably going to Seven Sisters with Shire LRC in June too if there's anyone else going from down that way
  11. A friend is a mobile mechanic in staffs, he mostly does agricultural and commercial stuff but has a Land Rover and does some cars. Just get a couple of hours labour into it and get it mot'd

  14. This surprises me - the led bulb I fitted to replace the filament lamp on my interior light was pretty poor. I concur with the sentiment of fitting purpose made led lamps. The two I have now are incredibly bright
  15. In my experience I needed a larger washer for the discovery type drop arm (the one without the ball joint) compared to the defender type when I changed the drop arm. The old washer was far to small so I just made a new one I would gues the 60mm one to be for disco type, and the 48mm for defender

  17. In my experience the 4cylinder petrols are worth somewhere between very little and nothing at all I couldn't give away the last 2.5 I had. It went in the scrap
