mine did similar when I bought it, it was all down to the fuel system, try the filter first then the sedimenter or even fuel lines could have been disturbed & sucking in air ?
used my old 90 (2 1/4 petrol) to tow a fuel tanker out of our car park at work as he couldnt quite get in to deliver all the fuel to us, was on frozen snow & he said he wieghed 21.5 tons, his boss wouldnt believe that a 90 could do it till he seen the photos (owns a Land Rover him self now)
will try to find & load up the photos
you can ''machine'' some out of your wheel BUT if any thing were to happen & your insurance company found out you would be on your own as they WILL wash there hands of you.
new roof skin is about £550 + vat (non sunroof) & about 40hrs labour inc painting, done one a long time ago on a 200 unsure if yours is a 200 or 300 as front screen is bonded in the 300's so a bit more exspense , bodyshop price you would be looking at £3k, can you load any photos ?

Pity your so far away as I do quite a lot of welding on these nowadays, in fact welded a rear crossmember & centre chassis cross member last in a 97 Disco

Might be a idea to put this in the wanted section, fill in your location & people close to you might be able to help.
I will be removing my speaker pod soon as will be fitting a ali checker plate

deff standard, well as an option at least, had one in a 2001 Disco we had a couple of years ago, only used it once just to see how cold we could get it inside with front & rear ac running, bbrrrr was very cold I can tell you
John
have done it on a disco once, from memory managed to get the arm with a magnetic rod & bit of welding wire for the plastic clip, very fidderly buy easier that removimg the box, will help if you have someone with thin fingers for getting them back in (I have sausage style fingers)
hope that helps
