  1. TD5 Def Driving at around 8okm -100km freeway in 5th grear, sudden light shuddrings & sluggish/ lethargic feel to motor. Slow down to under 80 problem seems to dissapear – could this be potential fuel pump failure (or worse) waiting to hit me en route to the camp -over? AAARGH – now worried to chance long drive. No sign of fuel leaks etc in engine well. No raised temp guage, slight signs of overflow residue exterior radiator filler bottle. Comments anybody.
  2. Hello mate, you can go up to 35inch but you need to trim back the front wings between the door and arch. only a couple of inches otherwise on full lock the tyres rub and dent the arches (see pic of toy). you can then fit the Innovation flared arched which look fantastic. i have 2 defenders kitted with 35inch tyres, and they perform fantastic and look even better. The downsides are a loss of power because the gear ratio has changed. you only really notice it on long uphills so its not to much of a hairy deal. I have 3.9's fitted with auto boxes so i do nt notice it now really. The other downside is if you use it agressively off road you do stand a chance of breaking shafts and CV's. I fitted a KAM kit to my toy as i was breaking shafts and CV's regularly. The kit works. Its a difficult one but if you go the 35inch route just see what happens, ie you have to do the wing mod but not the shafts. See how you go with the shafts and if you break a couple get the kit, its worth it. The trouble with the 33inch tyres is they just arent 35" and if you really want 35" you will never be happy with 33". I had the same quandry as you and am so glad i went 35". hope this helps.
  3. Jason i strongly urge you to try another set of wheeels and tyres you know to be balanced - we have just had exactly the same problem here in South Africa. we changed bushes, shocks etc and it turned out to be balancing which we had already checked. It is probably something very simple. bloody frustrating though. Gary
  4. Hi Kev you will snap after market shafts almost instantly using 35" tyres. i have a hybrid running arb's and BFG 35" mud terrains. original LR shafts are much stronger than aftermarket shafts, and i mean much stronger. email me on garysarienne@worldonline.co.za and i'll give you more details. believe me i've done what you are thinking and it cost me 2 competitions. i look forward to hearing from you.
  5. hi, ive done this conversion twice and its very easy, everything bolts in. email me on garysarienne@worldonline.co.za or skype me on the same address, i'll help you out.
  6. Hi - I have a hybrid 90 running a 3.9 with ARB’s front and rear also 35x12.5x15 BFG Muds – wow is the only comment I can give, truly unbelievable – the trouble is I tend to break the odd CV joint – usually I switch the front on when it has not quite broken ground enough putting too much pressure through the drivetrain – the guys are right the 24 to 23 shaft is the way to go. Using the old 23 spline cv joints. KAM do a fantastic kit if £700 is in your budget – unfortunately not in mine. I am running disco 1 drivetrain 24/32 axles and want to ask if anyone knows if I can make a 23 spline cv joint fit this hub – I have been told I need to change the stub axle, but is that all I need to change?? if anyone can help i would really appreciate it.
