  1. My dad used to have them in his 110's and he had them under the drivers seat with the vent coming out in the rear foot well behind the driver. And the thermostat on the dash (null)
  2. I have the Tom Tom app on my iPhone and it is great and well worth the money. Manly because it automatic updates the maps when there is a change at no extra . Plus unlike a lot of free ones it does not use the Internet when you are using it as it stores all the maps in the phone. Plus it does have a few good extras like google search and find the address and then takes you there. (null)
  3. Mm must be under the same rule as when they made 12 seater 110's They were classed as commercial and therefore had to have an MOT from new and not the normal wait for three years. A lot of people were caught out by this. BTW these were also classed as a bus. As due to the highway code a bus is any thing with 12 or more seats My dad used to keep a copy of the highway code in his dash and drive down all the bus lanes in London all the time. If he got stopped he used to show them the highway code and get let off (null)
  4. Ah bunny lane I remember when I first secured that for use with the shire's with Jules. The number one rule was don't go into the water. Caused a lot of problems over the years (null)
  5. I take it will be the same sort of thing as here in Queensland. My 110 or 90 never need a MOT (roadworthy) unless I sell them I have the 90 here for 7 years and only had a MOT when it got into the country But if you are in an accident and the car was unsafe then they will throw the book at you. Also if they stop you on the road and the car is unsafe. But there again we don't have the rust here in Qld and that is what causes most of the problem in the Mot (null)
  6. Thats why I love eBay full of idiots that think they know when they get a bargain When the new td5 dash came out. I fitted it to my 90 and then I put the full gen kits on eBay for £250 and sold quite a few On the way to the post office I used to go the the local dealer and buy all the bits need gen for £80 and them post it to them (null)
  7. Can be done as said But can get a carb balancer for su's on eBay for about £20. I am about to get one to sort my RRC put (null)
  8. When was the last time you drain water out of the bottom of the fuel filter If you have never done it before just undo the tap on the bottom of the filter and let the fluid leak out for a bit and then do it back up again If there is too much water in there it will get into the engine and cause white smoke (null)
  9. Well for my bit I would say a defender or disco . As said they both have their pros and cons But which ever I would say a 300tdi pre electronics as you can fix them with a hammer and chisel. Don't want to be in the middle if no where with a chip not wanting to play ball. I drove 25,000 miles around the outback Australia , which is some of the remotest places of earth . My 90 did it great with no real problems . But as said it is up to you as to what you want from a car . The disco's are a bit more comfortable but the 110 more friendly for the over landing in my option. I have a 110 and a 90 now both set up for overlanding ie twin fuel tanks, twin batteries , snorkel , winch and all the other bits. But Jon I know you are a Figjam but a freelander come on be serious . Are going overlanding or driving to Rome on road . If I was doing that and staying in a hotel them maybe a freelander but if that was the case I would be in a VW passatt.
  10. Have you tried the guard on the front brake disc they bend and rub against the brake disc making a noise which you describe. Just get a screw driver in between it and the disc and bend it back out. (null)
  11. And into Australia they don't like LHD down here. I think you can do it but is only allowed in each state for a very short amount of time (null)
  12. Yeah believe me on the other side of the world looking at you lot you do look dumb Although good thing is it makes our expensive fuel at A$1.50 a ltr look not quite so dear now
  13. Yeah but as said it's not extra money it's just they won't get that money in a few weeks time as they normally would. Fuel is one of the rare products that people don't stock up when it goes up in price. You fill up your tank but don't normally bulk buy like you would if cigs went up in price and unlike a lot of products if the price goes up you can't stop using it totally. In fact no one drives around and around using up fuel for no reason. Te funniest bit is the truckers don't need to stike now as the government has proved their point as what mad panic would happen if they did. And hence make their claim stronger. Because what I can see from the other side of the world is nothing has happen in the way of strike but because of government warnings you lot have caused your own dramas I got this sent to me the other day , made me laugh (null)
  14. A lot of it was down to price. they were even more here in Australia It is the same as with maxi drive unit is also a lot better but a lot more expensive than ARB. And they had the and in my mine still have the strongest shafts and Nige you You have first hand experience of what used to do to them. I am just about to get my self a set of Maxi Drive shafts and looking at a diff locker from them. Although they are not called Maxi drive but Hi Tough it is still the same stuff. (null)
  15. Hi This is the sort of Land Rover Events we have on the Gold Coast Dose not matter how good your snorkel is it not going to work out there :-) (null)
  16. One way we do it in flooring with the spray adhesive is to spray on both sides leave to dry a bit then stick them together but make sure you get them in the right place as it will stick straight away (null)
  17. I totally agree with you. I can't see how the lpg can wear down the cam but that is what everyone tells me what happens if you run on LPG too much. Can't see how but will have a look and see what the star of mine is when I change the carb (null)
  18. This is my Rangie with a winch bumper , does not have the winch in , in this pic and the number plate is over the hole (null)
  19. I have the same problem with a 86 Rangie that runs on gas in Brisbane I have started to work my way though things. I am by admittance a diesel person, have 3 diesel defenders so not great with the tuning of the v8 . But my brother came over from the uk at Christmas and he is more into v8's . So we spent a few days tuning it and going through a few things. First was that my kick down cable need adjustment. This made it kick down a bit better. But still sluggish after new spark plugs leads and dizzy. So for me next more is to get rid of the horrible crappy Holly carb on it and replace with SU's . I found a set of SU with the gas stuff on it in Aldelaide so waiting for them to get to me and then going to get rid of the holly . But at the same time that I replace the holly i will look at the cam as I do think it may be the cause of the problem as a few have told me the gas does have a habit of wearing down the cams
  20. That is what I mean. I was in the flooring trade in the uk and there were loads of floor layers who had beaten up old transits or Mazda vans but had merc's and other nice cars at their million pound houses But to turn up to a customer in a car like that is sort of taking the tiddle. (null)
  21. Yeah tradie is as said is anyone who is a trades man. (null)
  22. Saw this and had to laugh What tradies drive in Queensland Ali (null)
  23. If you have any real problem then give me a shout as I live near to where the Waeco's are made Their factory is round the corner as such. Should be able to get what you want from there Ali
  24. As for the wiring , just get the v8 engine bay loom and you can just unplug the diesel one and plug in the v8 one. The plug is on the bulkhead engine bay side Last one I got from the main dealer and was £12.50
  25. Well I got a few land rover t shirts, land rover mugs , land Rover over the years big book, a g4 book which will go well with the Camel trophy book. May not sound a lot but pretty rare stuff in Australia My brother Jules is over here at the moment and got him an aerial for his iPhone. But Aus style so the big ones that are for on the Arb bull bar. Along with a new cb aerial for him too , same sort that fits on the Bull Bar. Also took him shopping as well for Christmas to my little local off road shop (null)
