  1. Wow thats pretty cheap compared to what I was expecting Where abouts in Aus are you . Ali
  2. I was more thinking how much the postage would be on stuff They are very well made. But not too heavy, I easyly lift them in and out of the car on my own , I had outback draws in the back of the 110 when I got it. I took them out and put in these ones. For a number of reason. If you want to take them out then you can very easy and quickly. Can't do that with the outback ones. Also better made than the outback ones. These are all metal Unlike the wood of the outback ones Nice how the make the whole back area of the car flat and at the same level as the wheel arches. I know the outback ones do that too but the have a bit of board that goes all the way across and raises the back area of the car by 20-30 cm which made it too high for my dogs to jump into the back of the car . Also wasted a bit of area over the wheel arches Ali
  3. I have their draws in the back of my trucks. Used them alot, and recommend them. But no surprised that they have sold it , last time I saw gem was 6 years ago at the Abingdon 4x4 show. They were looking close to retirement then. But they have done some traveling in their past. They drove all round Australia in a. s2 back in the 60- 70 and it was really hard then . But Wayne I am interested how you go with importing to Aus as I am in Brisbane and would like some more of their stuff Ali
  4. Hi just a quick one I know the v8 engine is made by Jag and the v6 by Ford, but who makes the diesel one . I always thought it was Pugeot I was told by a Ford dealership that the new territory has the diesel from the disco and was made by Jag Cheers Ali
  5. Still have the same problem if his battery is no good :-)
  6. Check you battery They need alot if juice to turn one of those over and start them. Has to spin it fast too. I had this problem and replaced alot of stuff before I found it was the battery
  7. Hi went on a GCLRC trip to inland Qld over the last few days . Bit of off roaring and a bit of camping Went for a trip to the Condamine Gorge Got To love the Aussie name for things A track with 14 river crossings Lunch time stop And after lunch of to Queen Mary Falls We were camping over the few days ,here is my camping set up , it's ok but a bit compact and bijou .But looking at a bigger tent to go on the trailer to replace the one I have. And how the Aussie do it This puma has twin lockers, OME shocks and springs , big Tyres and loads of other toys and only has 2000 k's on the clock
  8. Sell the misses And build the table Well you asked for thoughts
  9. One great thing about Australia cars not having fog lights is means that idiots don't have them one when they should not be . Was my pet hate about driving around uk roads To show you an example , on the left Aussie sold 110 on the right uk imported 110
  10. Hi as for you importing a car , if I have read it right then you are in Europe and there fore you steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car and unless you change the steering wheel over the the right side then you won't be able to drive it on Aussie roads. They will let you import it but not drive it on the roads . Don't like left hand drive cars in Australia Ali
  11. The Brisbane 4x4 show is on this weekend Some nice stuff there a lot of toyotas and Nissan but quite a few landies and seem more each year ( pic taken with phone so sorry for the quality Here is some nice pipe work for a tdi In case you don't know this is a bull bar on the front of this disco Some nice accesories for the defender Air suspension for a defender
  12. Hi I moved from the UK to Australia 5.5 years ago. There are lots of jobs in Australia , and due to Australia not really been effected by the GFC . And now with a few fun months of weather there is alot of stuff that needs to be done. But there also alot of people moving to Australia with visa ( mainly escaping the UK and USA ) so difficult to get a 475 visa ( sponsored work visa) I work in the same trade as I was working in the UK and it is ften the case that you will take a step back in work when you first come over and then get back to where you were after about a year or two . I am now the head of Queensland commercial flooring for Dunlop Australia. I used to do the south coast of the UK in flooring trade and now do Queensland which is at least 7 times the size of the UK, so a little bit different If you want to become a citizen then you have to take a test which they will only print in English so if you can't read it then you fail and can't get it. I think the same goes for the perminat visa forms Not alot of room for PC stuff in Australia As for cost of lving , As in the rest of the world fuel and power is going up , but as I live in Brisbane I don't have gas and I don't need heating. I also have solar power so my last bill for electricity for the quarter was about £100 but I have a pool and the pumps in a pool use a bit even more so during the summer as you use it more then Petrol and diesel have gone up over the last few months but again I think that is the same as Europe petrol and diesel at the mo net are between $1.35 and $1.45 depending and when in the week you buy it . Funny Australian thing they have cheaper days to buy fuel Food is about the same as the UK but sea food is alot better than anywhere in Europe and same with the beef in my mind Work and the way of life is a lot more relaxed here in aus even more so here in Qld . But also because of the weather you can do alot more outside than I used to be able to in the UK. I personally think I am glad I am bring up my kids here than in the UK As for land rover not as common as in the UK but still a great following and plenty of parts and second hand car. On that cars or more expensive second hand as they don't have rust here. They tell you they do but they don't really know what it is I am going away for the easter weekend with the Gold Coast Labd Rover club. We are going camping and I will be taking the kids and the dogs with my 110 and camper trailer , living the dream Don't regret leaving the UK do miss some people , but not the country and from what I hear from the news I am very glad to be sat over here at the moment
  13. I have a long ranger tank under the seat that is stainless Need long range tanks in Australia so loads of different types for the defender over here. But more for the 110 as not alot of 90's here in aus A lot better than plastic as still able to be damaged there on the 110 Don't really notice it that much when parked up
  14. Well just remember just because the UK is in the **** not everyone else is Australia is fine down here and with the dollar vs pound rate land rovers are getting cheaper ( used to be £1 =A $ 2.3-2.5. But now £1 = A$1.60) Never seen so many disco's ranges and new 110's down here at the moment so I can believe it Ali
  15. Another thing to remember is a 110 with a 300tdi in it will be alot cheaper to insure than a 110 with an izuzu engine I had a 200 tdi in a range rover , when I bought It ,it had a f tranny engine in it and looked at all sorts of engines to replace it and the Landy one was best for several reasons
  16. I would put the canvas on and size it up for where the hooks go On bit of advice is to replace the string they use to tie the roof down with bungie cord and the string always loses and starts to make the roof flap around. Where as the bungie cord makes it easy to get on and off and always remains tight I have a soft top 90 and the speakers are under the dash If you want them in the back then go to land rover and get the NAS 90 speaker pods for the back rear corners I have an ex army roll bar for the seat belt mount And my old inerior light is mounted on the windscreen . Works fine here This is mine with the roof on And with the roof
  17. No I would put the dog in the 110 over night The way the panels are fitted on a 110 he will get out of the car and run away anyway
  18. Quick one is to leave it in neutral in the transfer box and. If a Tdi them take the lead to the fuel pump off Won't be able to move it but will make alot of noise trying
  19. I have a late 300 tdi 98 model I have not rust at all on mine. So they do t all rust just depends where they live I still have the black paint on the chassis that land rover put there And it does get driven on the beach too
  20. Mm sorry les but still don't agree with you But as I have looked over the years at this forum I still stand by my comments that the moderators can post stuff that the rest of us can't. I have had posts like this delected by you and other over the years . Just my thoughts and as you said we have a right to comment about our experiences Ali
  21. Millers is a good stuff if just to replace the lack of sulphur in the fuel now days. The millers gives back the mid range power Which the 200 and 300 tdi can be lacking. Side affect is that it cleans the injectors Would still use it but can find it in Australia , so use an Aussie similar stuff Ali
  22. No defending Britpart But just a question for les Is it only moderators that can slag of companies on here . Just when anyone else does it or says anything derogatory about a company, the post get deleted and they get a warning. But it ok for you
  23. I always car the fuel tank repair putty. You know the stuff that is two bita of putty that you mix together and put on your tank repair holes But this stuf has many more uses I have used it to repair fuel tanks but also rads, holes In the dif and axle casing and other holes in stuff for the size well worth keeping in the car
  24. But the wave has a locking knife blade too
