  1. Hi

I had the same problem on a 1995 defender 90 and that turned out to be the main light swtich on the steering column. The copper terminal spots wear so you dont get good electrical contact, Has to be said I also made the mistake of buying a cheap switch that didnt last very long. Got a genuine one that has lasted ages and is still going strong.

    Hope thats of some help.

  2. Hi all

I have an arb high output compressor which has an air pressure cut out switch as they all do set at 100 psi off and a restart when the pressure drops below 70 psi.

Im trying to find the what the max out put of the arb compressor is (without finding out the costly and rather noisey route)

The reason being im running onboard air from 2 arb highout compressors to a smallish tank rated at 150 psi.

Has anyone pushed arb compressors up to 120/130 psi ??? Do they survive long ??? How hot do they get ???

The next question being does anyone know where you can get the the pressure cut off switches at different ratings? Around the 90psi on / 130psi off

    Many thanks

  3. In an attempt to bring things full circle, on the whole it seems most people had a good time which ever show they went to. Some niggles were had at each venue lets just hope that they get sorted for next year. We can but hope.

One thing I do believe there is a space for is a post on customer service in the international forum relating to the bad and GOOD experinces had by customers. This allows others to see if an outlet is living up to expectation.

  4. One summer show in a central location with all present, magazines and traders alike. Drop the one up manship and all pull together.

Likewise I think an indoor winter show would also be a move in the right direction again with all present. ( I know that isnt exactly in line with the whole camping theme but I think it would still get a fair share of visitors)

    Sound like a good idea?

  5. Just a note Mr Grumpy was like this on Friday afternoon lord only knows what he was like on sunday!!!!

MANTEC's prices were a little cheaper and they were giving discount as I spoke to them and they were very very helpful. They just didnt do the product I wanted (side window grills for an early 90 with the window latch space in) or they would have had the sale.

  6. Just got back from Billing, only went for the Sunday. I enjoyed it as I always do, although you could tell that there was another show on, as it felt a lot smaller, and less to see & do, than in previous years.

The entrance fee is exhorbitant at £14 - they should have worn masks & striped jumpers!

I managed to pick up some good stuff at a good price (not GREAT prices, mind) I got a Mantec rear wheel carrier I have been promising myself, and the rear window grille.

Picked up a couple of Wolf boxes, a tree strop and a storage pouch to attach to my dog guard/trip net I designed.

All in all, I am quite happy, although I could have done without the rain.

May I also take this opportunity to mention my heroes & zeroes, supplier-wise.

    O.E.C - legends as always.

Devon 4x4 - i really like these guys, a great balance of toys for you off-road lot, plus some great gear for the overland crowd.

Met Fraser Barsby from the Rugged Guide DVD - what a lovely chap.

    The biggest losers?

NENE OVERLAND. I dont care about their reputation, I think they are a bunch of arrogant pillocks.

I made a personal visit to them several months ago, and was promised a list of works/prices to be emailed to me for overland prep.

....i am still waiting months later. When i brought this up today - whilst trying to buy a MSS cooker housing (and being fobbed off by a tw@) - apparently I was wrong to take my business to Footloose 4x4, as the several months that have elapsed since my visit, is not enough time for him (Kevin) to type the email out.

When I said that they had lost several thousand £££'s in business due to this, I was again told i was unfair apparently because "an email is just like some paper"........yeah, i dont know what the hell he was on about either.

I also could not buy the cooker housing, as they seem so inept that they cant even get me a price & process a transaction.

Sorry for the slight rant there, but Nene Overland were the only blight on an otherwise lovely day.

Funny you should say that about NENE OVERLAND, I was there on Friday and when asking about the price of internal window grills and if there were and show prices. I was firmly put in my place that there "was no show prices" the only reason I had to buy from Mr Grumpy was that I wanted grills that I could still get to the window latch and MANTEC's didnt have them like that for an earlier Defender.

Trust me I will only be using NENE OVERLAND from now on if no one else does the product I want.

All the other traders I talked to or bought from were very helpful and NOT Mr Grumpy.

  7. Hi

All windows finished now, I will add a picture when i figure out how.

The only issue I have now is that the first 2 windows I did were the small rear ones and they look pants to how I managed to get the others to come out. I could be going round in circles here but you kno where Im going now. The dilema is do I do those 2 again so they look as good as the others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna think about it over lunch.

  8. I found a few clips on youtube which have helped.

I've got the back windows done now after taking them out, lots of water and fairey seems to work. Having dogs and doing window tinting dont seem to go together even when you shut them out. I have a few hairs in the back ones just for good measure.!!!!!

Side ones to go now, taking them out is going to be loads of drilling but hey ho. I had to take one out to put in a new bit of glass.

U know its going to leak when it goes back even if I do use a stack of mastic.

  9. Evening

I've just come in from the garage and this film tint is driving me crazy trying to do the back windows and side sliding windows on my 90 in an attempt to stop the thieving so & so's from seeing in so easily and steeling my stuff. I'm off to Billing on friday to get some internal grills to add to the security as well.

Whats the secret? I,m using water and soap on the window and film and there's bubbles all over it.

Are there different qualities of the film?

Any suggestions would be helpfull (other than get a tinitng company to do it)

    Cheers
