  1. Thanks for the swift replies. I have found something similar on an MG owners club shop. https://www.mgocspares.co.uk/product/27h1193/clamp-control-cable-clamps-cable-outer-only At that price I will try them and if needs be make them fit.
  2. Good morning all, I am still putting my 1991 Defender Utility back together and am short (cant find) these cable clamps for the heater controls. Does anyone know if they can be purchased separately?, as I dont want to fork out loads for the whole lever part. your assistance much appreciated. Tiny
  3. Many thanks for the swift reply, although i have an older wiring loom with different connectors i can work it out from your diagrams, thankyou!
  4. Hi again all, Its been a while since ive chatted here. I am still in the process of putting my 1991 (300TDI) truck cab back together and even with a new main loom (autosparks) I'm struggling to get power on the instrument lighting circuit (red/white). I've checked the fuses, checked power at the light switch and all good. I have the instrument cluster out at the mo, would that make a difference? I just cant seem to find where this circuit gets its power from! I have the old loom making a large mess on the kitchen table with the multitude of wiring diagrams but still cant see a straight forward way how this circuit is powered. Any direction much appreciated.
  5. What an excellent thread!! I have been trying to sort my 1991 truck cab that has been converted to a 300 TDI, previous loom was a fire waiting to happen so I too bought an Autosparks loom, the down side is it has taken me about 5 years since removing the old loom. the engine runs and most lights work, just a few niggles to sort out and this thread has been perfect with similar issues. I have the pleasure of owning one of the few models that had a two spade switch for the interior roof light and it only took three days to work out why I had two wires to the switch instead of one. Thankyou to all the contributors, the joy of the Landy fellowship!!
  6. Thanks for all your replies, guess i will try to refurb the old rubber one, it just feels thicker and a lot sturdier than the new foam ones.
  7. Hello to all, currently in the process of re furbing my 1991 110 (was 200TDI) now 300TDI pickup, replacing seals etc. went to replace the windscreen to bulkhead seal and other than it has leaked at the outer corners at some point it is a proper all rubber seal. Is this an ex military seal?( Windscreen can tilt forward on its hinges)as the currently available seals are all that closed cell foam type and this rubber seal seems a lot more sturdy, all the searches i have done just show the foam type seal. Do the military fit a different seal? Thanks in advance
  8. Brilliant, i was thinking it might be used on the previous engine. Many thanks for your swift replies!!
  9. I bought one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-32V-12-Way-Blade-Fuse-Box-Bus-Bar-Car-Boat-W-Cover-Marine-FuseBox-Holder/264325889467?_trkparms=aid%3D888008%26algo%3DDISC.CARDS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3D1b4caf2107d543f5bf73c69a53544993%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D401772423890%26itm%3D264325889467%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982 and plan to do something like this
  10. I am hoping to pick the brains of you defender wiring gurus out there. I have a 1991 110 that has been converted from 200TDI to 300 TDI, and am replacing the wiring looms when i come across this brown with red tracer wire from the main loom into the engine bay. Can anyone tell me what its for please? I have studied the wiring diagrams and cant seem to find said wire anywhere .
  11. I just replaced the nut and wiggled and it came right off, purchased a new wiper switch but the bolt holes are not threaded, any ideas what size the the screws are?
  12. Hi everyone, I am the proud owner/repairer/custodian of an ex SSE defender 130 and the wiring is a bit of a mess, as this was a special projects vehicle is there a person or address at Land Rover that I can write to to get the original specifications for this vehicle? I would like to get the wiring diagram and the paint colour (as that space on the vin plate is blank) also I would like to know what accessories came fitted as standard. All help much appreciated.
  13. Oh no i am just about to fit a Britpart powersteering pump to my Defender......Should i be worried? or just take it back and ask for OEM?
  14. Thanks guys, wheel puller worked a treat, not sure about the state of the hub now as it has a few scoring marks on it. Tiny
