  1. Bit of a thread resurrection. Owing to various other jobs, both land rover and house based, this wiper problem has gone unsolved. Im not entirely sure what is meant by "check the park switch operating ramp on the wiper motor gear may be worn, so the switch isn't as effective as it should be." As I said in the original post, I've replaced the wiper park switch a while back which solved the issue of the wipers not stopping at the bottom of the screen. Is it possible this park switch coudl have developed a fault already? (Its <1yr old) If it's of any use, the fault seems to have got steadily worse, I.e. the wipers woudl initially wipe for 5 or so times more than requested, but now, after perhaps 3 months, they refuse to stop all together. Indicative of soemthing failing gradually? Sorry for so many questions. Electrics are not my strong point unfortunately!
  2. I had this noise and initially felt sure it was coming from the gearbox area. However, ive since realised it comes from the handles that you control the ventilation flaps with! Sorry if this sounds daft but got to be worth a look?
  3. I've got an issue with the wipers on my TD5 90. At first they refused to park in the correct position, so I changed the wiper park switch. Problem solved. Then they wouldn't stop at all - I assumed this would likely be a faulty relay, which I replaced but to no avail. Still the wipers more often than not refuse to stop. Anybody any ideas? Im assuming its not the switch within the wiper stalk control itself as it occasionally does stop? Please correct me if i'm wrong. Any help greatfully received.
  4. I installed some clear led ropelight from mr resistor website I think. 12v specific and just had it around the perimieter of the back of the hard top. As others have said, plenty bright enough and draw next to no current from the battery when youve got the engine turned off.
  5. Arch - Im south of the river at the moment. Where abouts are you? Always looking for other guys to bounce ideas off/pick their brains. You dont have a defender for sale in one of the magazines at the moment do you?
  6. Yep. Some horrible little sh**s about. Already got the steering lock ready for it's return. Anybody have any recommendations as to decent alarms/professional fitters?
  7. Not sure if this is in the right section of the forum - if not, please feel free to move it. I live in Sunderland at the moment and thought I'd just give a heads up to any other local guys with defenders. Mine was the vicitim of an attempted theft on sunday night. Despite being only 10m max fromt he bedroom window where I was sleeping, the little scrotes managed to smash both front door locks, before having a go at (presumably) starting it by smashinbg the hell out of the ignition panel. Luckily they didnt get away with it. No other cars were touched int he street so I'm assuming it was a "stolen to order" job. Keep an eye out! Sundays job is fitting one of those pull up security posts behind the garden gates as well as looking into getting an alarm and immobiliser. Made me sick with anger. I realised I was probably capable of horrible actions if I'd caught them in the act.
  8. The guy from Loctite came and visited me at my work place before he handed over the sample!! Was intent on showing me the whole range of products that they do. SOme were interesting though and I didnt realise they did half the stuff they do. Problem is, I ordered the more permanent loctite as opposed to the stuff thats relatively easily removed.
  9. I'm hoping somebody will be able to give me the part numbers for the two front brake calipers on a 2002 TD5 Defender 90 please? I do have the Microcat but it is on another computer I dont have access too at the moment! (If anybody has a link to a microcat, that would also be much appreciated!!) Many thanks for your help.
