Sounds to me like it could be losing compression somehow? But very strange that letting it sit for such a short time would bring the compression back to normal. And doesn't explain the hard to start/keep running afterwards...
I'm wondering how the engine reacts to ether/start pilot/... sprayed in the intake when it starts to bog down?
Didn't see this thread before. When I sealed up a hole with a small wire in my bulkhead I cut open a grommet, slid it over, then cut open a piece of ducttape, and put that over the grommet with the slit 180° out. Seemed to do the trick fairly well.
I ran a cracked plastic radiator in my P38 for years with just some high-temp epoxy smeared over the crack without issue. Only replaced it because I didn't want to take the risk on a long trip.
Could the electric pump be there as a back-up for the PTO pump? If there is a PTO pump at all, that is.
It's all a bit of a strange setup.
First order of business would be to check the oil level for the winch, if that tank is empty that'll be the squealing - and you're burning up the pump.
Looks like you have lift springs now? A standard spring would probably work. But don't go too low, uptravel is nice to have. A portal axled car is always going to be high up unless it's mid engined and the chassis rails go up a lot above the axle.
A lot of that is solved with liquid cooling, so the motors can be sealed. Alternators and starters usually die because they get crud in them.
But yes, there's a lot of electronic components that can go wrong.
In which universe would that not be the case?!
I would expect this to be covered by their personal liability insurance, just as when your kid crashes their bike through the neighbours' window.
I have no problems with EV discussion. I have no problem with the discussion about the source of EV pollution and all that jazz. What I do have a problem with is that it gets repeated every other week. Keep it in one thread.
This one was about the price of the conversion. Or do we need to start discussion fossil fuel sources in every thread about a V8 swap?
If you have the time and feel so inclined, I think a YouTube channel with this sort of fabrication would probably work very well.
Unless you secretly already have one and this is you :
