  1. Doubt it's the lift pump as you don't have the problem when you've added fuel to the tank, though it is a possibility. When mine went weak I didn't have a problem when running, just starting if left for a day or two, as it allowed fuel to drain back to the tank. Suspicion lies with a perforated fuel pick up? Or potentially an inaccurate gauge - check the connections to the sender are clean... Check the simple, cheap options first. Cheers, Graham
  2. Nice fix! Thanks for posting the information.
  3. "intermediate reduction drive" If you like this is the Freelander equivalent of the Defender etc. transfer box.
  4. I think a Morgan friend of mine was on it in his SII. Said it was a good turnout (but the loos were locked at the half way stop...). He seemed to have enjoyed his day out.
  5. Dunno. Forgot all about it - :swmbo: decided she wanted to go out...
  6. Yes, good point. Maybe they are just trying to prepare customers for the possibility of a more expensive repair...
  7. Also, have a look at Bell Engineering's web site under the "Symptoms" tab. there is excellent description of all you need to know: http://www.bellengineering.co.uk/5.html Cheers,
  8. That would interest me - but I have to get rid of the MINI first - lack of space
  9. I hate these modern ECU controlled vehicle charging systems. The MINI has killed the charging board on two jumpstart boxes now. The main reason for using the box is to power a vhf/uhf ham radio (isolating it from the car) and it's handy for assisting the Morgan to start if it's not been used for a while (i.e. priming mechanical fuel pump!). I'm wondering whether to return the second Jumstart box for a refund, or whether to try to find an alternative... Meanwhile the old CTEK charger is handy for topping it up each week.
  10. For a second there, I wondered if you had my old IIa - it only went on Brean Sands once during my ownership though...
  11. Well, well. I miss the forum for a couple of weeks and lots of things happen! Simon, the TS-700G (slightly later model) was only 10W from memory, so I guess the 700 is probably the same. Have 160m - 70cm in the 90. Will have similar in everyday car (when I replace the MINI - still Hippo hunting, or maybe a Jimny). 80m - 23cm at home (but 80m suffers with horrendous QRM). So for inter-G (intra-G? ) 40m (or 60m) is best for me. Radio, like Land Rovers, is in my bones - licensed since '77 and a marine Radio Officer for some 15 years... Cheers, Fudge
  12. Cheers Matt. I had a quick look at a 5 door on Sunday, after speaking to a delaer on Saturday. But by the time I got there someone else was in the process of negotiating a deal on it. It had too many things wrong for me (mostly cosmetic) and it confirmed I do not want another black car... So the hunting continues (unless I buy a CR-V  ).
  13. I've been in the market, on and off, for a 3 door Hippo since early 2011 (when the 90 was in for it's major rebuild - chassis, bulkhead galvanising etc.), but finding one with TD4 in good condition for sale has been pretty well impossible. So, as I need something bigger than the MINI, grand little car that it is, it has to go and I will accept that the number of 5 door Freelanders with TD4 is greater and it will probably be easier to find a reasonable one. Now for the simple question - is it possible to retro-fit the longitudinal roof rails on a 5 door (if they aren't there - not possible on a Clubman). Having the rails is essential - Ralph (Western) will know why. If it is possible, are they still readily available, bearing in mind the Freelander 2 came out in 2006... Cheers,
  14. At present I have a switched relay to link the batteries for charging. However, battery #2 is only used to power the Webasto pre-heater, ham radio gear and other (relatively compared to an electric winch) low powered devices. I shall fit one of the X-eng split chargers one day... Cheers,
