  1. Don't have access to my email right now, so can't email them directly... Does anyone know if the warranty of Ashcroft includes work? If I buy a reconditioned gearbox from them and use their fitting service, can I just return my car to them if it brakes down again within the warranty period, or will I be charged for the fitting of the replacement then?
  2. all professional thiefs carry gsm and gps blockers these days, now they only cost around 100 dollars. A friend of mine carries one of these for other purposes. His company car is being tracked all the time by his boss. If he stops somewhere where he isn't supposed to, he switches on his jammer a few minutes before so his boss can't see where he is and thinks there is a problem with the signal.
  3. I don't see why everbody thinks Land rovers are poor quality, I think it must be the way you use them. I own a D2 TD5, now at 360000 km's, always with a 2,5 tons trailer, the ONLY problems I've had are the dual mass flywheel at 325000km's and the gearbox at 330000km's. O, and the reard door lock is broken. Everything else is still original, wheel bearings, propshafts, turbo, cilinder head...not a single problem. My 110 Stationwagon 300TDI now has done 395000km's, had a new turbo at 350000 and at this moment it needs injectors and the gearbox is starting to make a little noise. My 110 hardtop 200TDI with 650000km's has also given me very little problems, still it's original engine, doesn't leak or burn any oil. I'm not sure if other makes would have given me this many km's of service with this little problems.
  4. RR way better, even completely standard..
  5. My alarm seems to work fine, if I open a door when armed, the indicators start to flash.. There is no sound though. Does the alarm have its own sounder or should it use the cars horn? What could be wrong?
  6. I already found out there's no such thing as a 21 teeth input gear...only 26 or 28... so something else must be wrong with his box...
  7. I can only find 26 or 28 teeth input gears for LT230. The LT230 of a friend of mine has a 26 teeth input gear fitted but it will not turn around, he says he needs a 21 teeth gear, is that possible?
  8. I've used acetone in my def 300tdi for the last 50000miles. You need to use the EXACT percentage, otherwise it doesn't do anything (at least not with my car). If the mix is perfect it saves me 10 to 20 percent diesel. I don't notice anything else, doesn't smoke les, doesn't have more power. But now I use 1 liter of diesel at every 10 km's where without acetone I only get about 8 - 8,5 km's per liter. I've tried it with my Disco TD5, sometimes the MPG seems to get better, but sometimes not. So the result weren't good enough and I now only use it with my 300tdi.
  9. I drive about 150.000km's each year with a discoII and a car trailer. I used to use 4 straps, one on each wheel (8 spokes or modulairs are easy, just put the hook in, normal LR wheels I put strap behind it.). That was fine, could drive up to 120 km/h (not allowed :-) ) without any problems. Lately I use two straps, one for each rear wheel, and one strap around the front bumper, and pull it maximum down. It feels a little more stable now. I've tried strapping the chassis down, but it felt less good....
  10. I saw the thread with the track rod ends, but I don't understand that. A track rod end can be moved in all directions, So this will give lots of free play in directions I don't want. This is what I've made:
  11. I've build a spare wheel carrier this week, but I'm not too satisfied with the hinge I've used. In the US they sell nice hinges, but it will be expensive to get one to Holland I think. I'm driving to greece in two weeks and it would be nice if I could find a better hinge in time. Where can you buy these in the UK, or better, somewhere else in Europe?
  12. I have a rear door that swing open at the top. So I've welded this one together yesterday: Material was around 5 pounds :-)
  13. Yeah, I know Aschroft do them, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one from them, I just fitted a reconditioned R380 for my Disco TD5 from them. The car with the LT85 is the budget car from one of my customers, he doesn't use the car much and wants to spend as little money as possible on it. He thinks about just keeping this one until it breaks down, I don't know how long it will last, I don't see too many LT85's around here. Maybe we can put some snake oil in it, to quiet it down a little... Any suggestions?
  14. Hi, I have a 110 V8 with a LT85 box here. The box is VERY noisy. Everything still works ok though, no backlash at all. I'm affraid it will break down soon. Lt85's are hard to find, especially here in Holland. Can I replace this with a LT77 or R380, which type do I need. Do I need to change gearbox mounts or props?
  15. I must say I'm generally very pleased with Paddocks service. I've ordered for thousands with them, at least one order each week and they have never made a mistake with any order...
  16. I've ordered 4 'new Bosch injectors' for my 110 300TDI with Paddocks a few days ago. When I've received my order I've found 4 Britpart injectors, no Bosch signs on them anywhere. Does anyone of you know if Britparts sells new Bosch injectors under its own name or did Paddocks send me the wrong items? Paddocks link: Fuel_injector_-_new_Bosch_-_300TDI
  17. I did get the same message at first. I sent an email to nanocom and got my unlock code within an hour...
  18. Hi, I have a 90 with a 2,25 petrol engine, 3th gear is broken. I can get a LT77 from a 110 2.5 diesel, can I use that box for my 2,25 petrol?
  19. But this is a part of the chassis that doesn't rust that much. I've bought and sold 80 Land Rovers 110 from 1983 and 1984 in the last two years, and only one of those had rustdamage in this location...
  20. Your vin should be here: If it isn't there, there's something wrong...
  21. OK, for cavity protection it's OK, but for the outside it's not good... A lot of land rover chassis over here are protected on the inside with linseed oil, that's also very good (and very cheap).
  22. waxoyl is rubbish.... Waxoyl is popular in the UK. I buy a lot of cars in the UK, most of them have waxoyl, also, most of them are rusty. Rust continues under the waxoyl. Here in the Netherlands a lot of people paint the chassis with a good primer and put a good paint topcoat on that. These cars stay in far better condition. The rear body crossmember is one of the worst bits of any 110, iwhenever I put a new one in, I always have it galvanised...
  23. Do you use a vaporiser with these systems, just like with a petrol engine? How do you adjust te mixture, I think you can't measure the exhaust gasses with equipmet for a petrol/lpg system. I'm very interested in building a LPG system to my 300TDI, not for more power, but for better economics and better for the environment. Just don't know where to start...
