Hi There, if your 90 has a naturally aspirated engine, it will make heavy work of 35" tyres. Even 33's will make life difficult for it. Bigger tyres will search out the weaknesses in the drive train, but I would think that your figure of £800.00 is way over the top. AT2's are a good tyre both on and off road and you could also look at BFG's and Kuhmo's HTH, Bryan

Was the fuel level low? have you had this happen before? My 90 will do the same if the fuel level is below about a quarter full.

Could be the switch as well, although burning smell = not good.

I had just bought a 90 before I signed up to the previous incarnation of this forum and a couple of others. So when I was looking for a username, it just seemed to make sense to call myself Bryan90 (name is Bryan, you see). This time around, I shortened it to B90. Very imaginative.

I had the PS pump on my 90 seize up there on Saturday. Managed to get a 2nd hand unit on saturday afternoon and fitted it that night. Result : much lighter steering so maybe the old pump was running down. Oh, and a secondary result was a serious diminution of brownie points. B

I too had a 90TD. It would reach 55MPH given long enough run up, (say bout 7 miles). Eventually cracked the head. Swapped in a 200 TDi. Now have a smile on my face every time I sit behind the wheel!
