  1. http://www.croytec.co.uk/products.htm, Have a look at this site for stainless hinges, also some other things on here if you want to pimp your truck with a bit of bling so to say.
  2. HI all, thanks for all the info about the rumble and i have checked all the things mentioned. i first went to get my wheels balanced to check it was them, they was all ok. Then took of a prop at a time and went for a spin and the noise was still there, so went to a garage to check transfer box and gear box. They said it was all ok so it was not them. So i went on a mission and after a few hours checking anything that moved i found it was the drivers side engine mount had collapsed. The arm that comes of the engine to the mount was resting on the top of the rubber. There should be about a 10mm gap from the bottom of the arm to the top of the rubber. This causes all sorts of vibrations, clunks and rumbles. The truck now runs like it came out of the showroom.
  3. The props are wide angle gwyn lewis ones which was fitted on sat 19 march, 3 days ago. They came out of the box and onto the truck. I dont think they are out of phase as gwyn would not be happy selling unsuitable parts. I also dont think the tyres are at fault as when you take it out of gear coasting at 60 there is no rumble and the truck has no shake at all.
  4. I wonder if anyone can help. I got a realy bad rumble at 40 mph which shakes the whole truck. when I accelerate up to 40 its fine then a rumble starts and get worse fast, as soon as you take your foot of the accelerator it stops and everything is fine and smooth. i cant really say where it comes from back or front as its so bad everything shakes. in the last month i have changed. front axle: swivel ball, bearings and seals. wheel bearings drive flanges brake discs and pads suspension lift: +2 springs and shocks turrets spring retainers polly bushes all round, if there is one for it its been changed caster corrected radious arms rear cranked arms dislocation cones front and rear wide angle props a frame ball joint adjustable panhard rod brake hoses rear axle just the discs and pads. bearings about year and half ago transfer box: front and rear output bearings and seals. standard land rover xs alloys with cooper stt tyres. it s 2001 td5 90 108,000 on the clock. i do have a bad clunk if you take your foot of the accelrator a bit fast to let the engine/gears slow you down and another if you put your foot down fast.
  5. I have a set of the cooper discover and from what i read about them they do conform to the S mark sound level, they are not that noisey at all, compaired to the insa turbo special track i use to have on there. The STT that i have are the new style which have a better side wall with more grip on the side un like the ones that mark williams has on 4x4 is born, they seam to be the older style.
  6. Have any one had any probems with the seat heaters not warming up properly. At first they was super warm and a was well happy but over the 9 months I have had them they are nowhere near as warm as when they was fitted.
  7. They are the deep dish xs style was made for the discovery 2 and range rover of the same age but can also fit on defender. I have them on my TD5 90.
  8. what u want is a set of insa turbo special track 265/75 r16 these will get u out of anything while looking mean as hell and are well big, they only cost 80 bucks a piece so price is good . I got um on my 90 they been on there about a year and they still have loads of tred left on them. I use the 90 every day as it is my main car/ landy. Cant fault them for price, the ability 2 get u out of the deepest mud and shear mean looking.
  9. hay. I am not sure if i have the same leek as u, but what i have found is on the door seal half way down where it kinks round the radious of the panel, right in the corner it is come away a little. Water gets behind the seal and runs down the plastic bracket just to the right of the speaker then down above the throttle and onto the foot.
  10. thanks a lot Ben you made me a happy chap.
  11. in the new landrover international mag may issue i have noticed a set of spot lights which i fancy. It is on the isle of man green lanes write up. The lights i am on about is on the windscreen cage of the defender with B2MN on the number plate. Does anyone know what lights these are and have anyone got a set so they can say if they are any good.
  12. if you want to know what a defender can do towing wise watch this,
  13. easy just ger rid of the misses and dogs then you will have all the room you need. women would take their house if they could. or got a 110.
  14. you dont need to spend money on more nipples. i ground the end of my grease gun nozzle down so there was about 1.5 mm each side of the nozzle hole left, fits into any part of the uj now dont matter which direction the nipple is pointing.
  15. There is no differance in which filter you use as they are all the same, it dont matter which make you use as they are all made on the same line they are just painted an have a differant screen print of the manufacture name. I know this as i use to work in a filter factory, as many genuine LR filters as i could carry home, also britpart, mann, coopers, fram.
