Try to find a secondhand oxford. As stated above a much higher skill level is required, that said as the material is only thin down ward vertical welding is acceptable. A advantage with arc is being able to get into tight and blind positions and wind if working outside is not a problem Dont be tempted by cheap rods , oerlikon is my favorite multi position rod.
I didnt mean I was too good for landrovers. More the opposite Im good enough to make a crank for a buggati or a alloy body for a aston, but try as I may I cant break into landrovers even they are my interest and I have NO interest in normal "cars"
yes you bought them off my neighbour, who bought them off engineers without fears, I told him to chuck them in the scrap but It sounds like you bought them.
Mr foley paid a engineering firm to build your diff to Mr ashcrofts design, he couldnt build a thing!
??????????????? Pardon me mr smelly I aint sulking I aint even interested in doing them.
Tiagoc go to helperformance they are multinational and are THE major braided hose part and complete hose supplier.
I make them, any length any fitting ,using high quality stuff(not goodridge too dear) and make them for £100k+ racers, though Im not in the lr clique so I wont be hearing from you!
These engines have proved to be pretty poor in the transit (pump failure etc)with the result of lots of cheap transits with blown engines for sale, how have they proved to be in the defender?
No it isnt as you need to align to seperate boxes for drivetrain angle , and in a 90 there just isnt room. Ive done a few divorced transfer cases so I know how much extra room you need, and even on a 110 the rear prop ends up a bit short .Also you have the annoyance of making longer speedo cables handbrake cable, etc .
Very interesting thanks, shame about the box situation as Ive been offered a big old lexus which I assume has the electronic auto box.
Going to hunt down a old surf now, and thanks again for the info
Hello has anyone here fitted a lexus v8 in a defender type thing.
Was thinking of using disco/range auto box and the torque converter and making or modifying the toyota flex plate . To keep things clean I was thinking of the megesquirt route.
Any comments or suggestions?
If you want to do alloy why not get a good s/h transformer set ,I have 2 both 40+yrs old and will out live me.
If you want a inverter give r tech a try, good rep and they have repaired a cebora and a lincoln of mine that the factory agents said were dead and done so they know their stuff
Ive had two £4000+ lincoln inverters fail weeks after the waranty was out so im allergic to them, but I would recommend the cebora bi welder inverter.
Beware of re badged chinese junk ,thermodyne are prone to re badging as well as others.
