It's not so much about cost though fridge, surely, the cars mentioned above third hand are in smaller new car price territory and I'm pretty certain most won't be carrying bulk loads or have any more than one person in. I'm not criticising, Ed, but trying to understand. Most cars are designed to last their 3 year warranty and after that it's "God, I've got to get the body off change this or that" You know I have a 90 to change gearboxes and work on, why would you want to do it on your daily driver ? Mo

I really don't understand why people buy these cars as every day vehicles. For the same money I buy a euro box. No miles. No bother. Manufacturers warranty. No further investment bar annual servicing. No pain. Nice brand new car smell 😉 Buy whatever you want, I just don't get worrying about mileage and buying second hand. Mo

Are you using standard thinners to thin paintmans coach enamel ? Mo

What size tyres are you using Sigi ? Mo

I fused mine when I fitted the glow plug wiring monkie, I used a HD strip fuse and holder mounted on the bulkhead in the feed to the relay. As for wiring, I considered new harnesses and I considered making new but in the end opted to use TD5 wiring from breakers as I'm lazy and tight 😉. This has proved very reliable over the last 10 years or so. HTH Mo

It's not a huge job to change a transfer box so why not buy a 1.4 box and try it. Personally I don't think it'll be too much of a problem but as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I Imagine that siggi gets away with a 1.1 box because he probably has an earlier LT77 with lower gearbox ratios. Those that were introduced with the 200 tdi, G and H suffix had higher gearbox ratios to better suit the increased power of the new engine. HTH Mo
