  1. There is more stuff turning up every day, none of it cheap and some of it in dubious taste, from drawer systems to portals. One business is building a racer, so job 1 was take everything out they did not want, leaving this blank canvas. There is more detail in the thread, https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/buzz-overland-gutted-grenadier.12415241/#post-1333267697
  2. It does appear to be a thing; I'll wave at classic Defenders in the Grenadier and a few wave at me. Grenadier owners do wave at each other.
  3. I'd suggest it was weight and emissions as the Grenadier was already about 200kg over original target. As Ineos Automotive have deemed the aftermarket to provide them, I'd suggest they got ditched before formal homologation.
  4. There are some more extensive bash plates you can add if you are intending to go more "extreme". Looks to be very bad luck to me. I always expected the various cooling radiators to be the most vulnerable point of failure, but I appear to be wrong, (not uncommon, I'm a better IFA than engineer). Here's the thread on The Ineos Forum, https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/gearbox-sump-pan-cracked-and-cant-select-neutral.12415119/
  5. I think he managed to hang the doors as badly as Solihull did back in the day.
  6. A variation on the double cab is now available (in Australia at least) )
  7. I've signed up for the updates as they come, so I'll add them here. I really don't see me buying a Fusilier when they are released; my Grenadier will only be 3-4 years old and I intend to run it to expiry, (mine or its!)
  8. Not a clue, very little information is out yet. this is about the sum total of the published information, https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/gb/news/introducing-the-ineos-fusilier. It will be another Magna developed vehicle available as a BEV and a BEV with a REX, (ICE range extender). The rumour-mill suggests it will be lower, shorter, heavier and more expensive than the Grenadier.
  9. I've asked around and a couple of people have suggested a few possible snags. Some countries have professional licensing, so unqualified people are not allowed to do tasks for which they are not qualified. In the UK anyone can set up as a car mechanic, but that is not the case in many places. Often this goes with restrictions on who can have service data. Suppliers can also be restrictive on who can have IP/data, confining it to official licensees. The Right to Repair movement in the USA is not a expectation that the general public can take any and everything apart, just that not just franchised shops have access to the service and mechanical data.
  10. Still not published; last semi-official word I had was the end of Q1 2024. The MD said in Australia that they had issues with different jurisdictions about the data they could release, but there is not one coherent message.
  11. A YouTube video from Australian from a gentleman called John Canny. If you have a dig into his previous videos you can see that he is probably braver than he should be, but he makes a good accelerated wear test on his Grenadier.
  12. Do not underestimate the pettiness of an insurance company - absolutely standard is good if you want cheaper insurance. Save the fancy wheels, tyres, seats and lights for vehicle number 2 or 3. What you need to get next is several years no claims bonus and the odds are against you.
  13. Always buy a Defender on condition and take a disinterested mechanically aware mate to talk you out of the rusty dogs you will meet! The usual used-car advice is buy the best one you can afford; for a Defender I'd suggest keeping 20% of your budget back for fixing bodges you find once the vehicle is home or to make it more useful to you. As a young driver, keep it as standard as possible and see if adding parents or grandparents as named drivers reduces the insurance cost. As for engine choice, none are rubbish, (except the TD), but there are a lot of 300Tdi spares out there.
  14. Have you got a local LR independent specialist?
  15. One possibility is radio interference; try and turn off any and all radio sources you have near the vehicle, Wi-Fi, baby monitors, WiFi enabled CCTV, door bells etc and retry. If you have cheap access to roadside rescue, (AA, RAC etc), make it their problem.
  16. Stills are not the best way to view video footage; it's often better to view a video clip to try and deduce a registration. There is some commercially available software for producing a composite still from a video clip which appears to sharpen a resultant still image. Dashcams will always be a compromise and cost is not always a good indicator of quality.
  17. As an example of my Road Angel Halo Pro, here are front and rear shots taken by the system automatically as the pothole rattled the sensor enough. They're taken as the light fades in the centre of Leicester, yesterday. The rear camera is noticeably less clear, as expected with the specification.
  18. I have a front/rear dashcam in the Grenadier, I would be happy to recommend it as it does its job. It came from Costco, but there is a deal on the Road Angel site, https://www.roadangelgroup.com/products/road-angel-halo-pro-front-and-rear-dash-cam-tradesperson-bundle
  19. Yes, the heavy duty fork should have the wear plate already welded on to resit it punching through. The HD kit seems to be listed by all the usual suppliers at various prices.
  20. My last new clutch was LUK from Parkers, https://www.thepartspeople.co.uk/phone/branches.html, 1989 LR110CSW 200Tdi It's still working for the new owner.
  21. Not so far. The last time I put the After-Sales Director on the spot, he said the end of Qtr1 2024, so it is due soon. The dealers have the full monty and sometimes print off bits for their customers, but the company MD said there were legal issues around the release when she was quizzed in Australia.
  22. I think you need to have a good look under a Grenadier and see just how big the axles are, (usually under a John Deere tractor), and the chassis, (made by a German builder of commercial vehicle chassis). As I said earlier, it will be 20 years before we have a reliable answer.
  23. Neither, I'm an independent financial adviser, not a farmer and the Army taught me not to get stuck! The nastiest it's got is some field lanes looking at a new farm based investment project.
  24. Yes, I have, collected 22/04/2023 and I've done 14,500+ miles so far. There is a Members Vehicles thread that covers my experiences and issues.
  25. No, a cauliflower is a consumable, not a capital asset. The vehicle would be durable not reusable. "It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than speak up and remove all doubt." Mark Twain, apparently.
