  1. I have found the excellent tutorial by Rickstart on how to repair the sunroof motor (Disco 2) which also shows how to remove the front panel. Not too difficult I guess. However I wish to get access to the rear sunroof motor and I cannot see how to get access to it without removing the whole rear lining, which looks like a bit of a job and a half. Is therean easy way to remove the plastic roof panel, I can see no clips or anything holding it and am about to conclude the hard way is the only way. Can anyone advise either way?
  2. I have exactly the same problem, drivers seat and windsreen, havent had a look yet as I need to buy a tester, but would be interested to hear if you find the fault. Steve
  3. Yeah i think Im going to get steel. The Coopers arent in a 18" anyway so Im going to have to get 16's
  4. Okay A simpletons question amongst all this technical stuff. My disco2 is new (to me) I have never driven with TC before and havent yet been offroad apart from onto the odd muddy verge. Is the TC supposed to make that awful noise or have I a problem with it? Thanks
  5. Ive been researching all the suggestions amongst others. I do like the look of the Coopers, I thnk the M+S are probaly too single purpose for my needs. I do fancy trying the ST, but thats not available in an 18". I am looking at getting some 16" wheels for off-roading and will get GG AT2 or Cooper ST's on these. In the interim though I think I am going to try Cooper Discovery AST's on the 18" wheels for general road and winter use. Do people generally go for steel wheels over alloy for pure off-road? Thanks for all the info / advice it has helped a lot.
  6. Thanks again Bogmonster, I understand now Steve
  7. Aaah yes I was forgetting about the mud when I was researching the vredesteins. AT2's it is then. One more question on this issue, I see a set of 16" 8J wheels for sale, I dont really know what 8J are apart from a J shaped edge on the rim or something like that, but are they suitable for AT2's? Steve
  8. Thanks for the info so far. I am in the UK, so as we dont actually get that much snow, they need to be an all round, wet, mud and snow tyre with most of its use on tarmac and not to wear out too quick. I am currently looking at the Vredestein Wintrac 4 extreme, which seem to have good reviews http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Vredestein/Wintrac-4-Extreme.htm, does anyone have any experience of these?
  9. I hope this hasnt already been done to death elsewhere on the forum. I am looking to fit a set of tyres to a spare set of rims for winter use. I suppose I am looking for a good all round tyre that can cope with mud / snow but is also reasonable on the tarmac. I am not going to be using it in extreme off road conditions (or not yet anyway ) I have a Disco2 with 18" rims and 255/55 road tyres fitted and am looking to buy a set of 16" rims and fit 255/65's so any recommendations are welcome. I had looked at putting Michelin Alpins on the front and Wrangler 's on the back but I dont really have any knowledge of tyres so all help / advice appreciated. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the replies Bog - Yes the tramlning was a little disconcerting until I got used to it. Fridge - I have 255/55 on 18" and was looking to put 255/65 on 16" ? Martn - You live a long long way from me but thanks for the offer.
  11. Wow thanks for the quick reply, after posting this I found the Disco2 website with the tre size calculator which has stopped me panicking about y recent ebay 'win' of five 16rims and tyres. Thanks again Bogmonster, ahh yes the tramlining, at fist I thought it was a fault when I bought my Disco I wont miss that if it does help.
  12. I currently have a Diso 2 with 18" road tyres, I am considering putting some 16" wheels for off road or for winter / snow tyres. I am lead to believe this is a reasonable option to avoid a lift, but will I notice any appreciable change in performance or anything else? Steve
  13. Hi My first post here, I pick up my new (to me) Disco TD5 tonight. I was wondering if anyone had any dealings with any good LR mechanics or garages in the Derby area that can be recommended. Steve
