  1. Thanks Guys I am tempted by the Bow rope and have researched prices for 125 foot 12mm inc vat as follows Bow Rope £333.50 Marlow £323.00 Plasma £402.00 Marlow Extreme £503.00
  2. hopefully 125 feet should fit as my drum has a narrowed centre and is 3 inches wider. What is the bow rope's durability like compared to Marlow or Plasma ?
  3. Ok folks my front winch rope has now done 11 competitions and I think it might be time to retire it as my next will be winching up the very steep hills at Crumps farm in 2 and a bit weeks time on the Challenger event. Yes I know I have just done this site on the tail end challenge but now it makes me shudder thinking about what would have happened had a rope snapped. I need 38m (or 125 feet ) of 12mm rope for my front twin motor 8274 , any reccomendations on type and supplier would be welcome as money is tight at the moment.
  4. Well done to all involved in a very slick running event especially Mr Nick who did a superb job organising a lot of it. Had a great time despite a few lost hours on Sat with breakages . Well dome to all the trophy winners in all the classes (we narrowly missed out on one ourselves). A big thank you to Ade my co-driver who ran hard all day Sat and Sun despite his bad hand and knee from his death defying quad bike accident on Wed.
  5. Good suggestions thanks guys , the only reason I ask about the custom ones is I have seen them on a few trucks now
  6. Thanks Western just trying to do the job properly....the amount of time and money spent on my truck I think I can spend another fiver
  7. Simple... because it may not be me trying to turn it off ; it may be a marshall afer a roll or other competition related problem
  8. I use the double version shown here http://www.nationalluna.com/newproduct3.htm and have one on ignition switched and the 2nd winch one coming on when the front winch isolator is on....works very well
  9. As per the title where can I get those stickers saying something like "winch isolators on passenger seatbox" Thanks
  10. Booked and Paid..looking forward to it...just the truck to clean and the coach exhaust to fix
  11. Great Day a big thanks to Adee my co driver for running so hard today and diving like a mad man through all the thorns and nettles ! It was good to nearly clear up (1 punch missed) after our recent mechanical problems on the last few events. A big thank you to Paul Bass for the supply of a steering box pipe which otherwise would have ended our day at lunch time. Home safe and sound with "just" a snapped exhaust on the Coach (we still had a least 6 inches of exhaust after the turbo , the rest held off the road by a ratchet strap !!)
  12. I use a piece of freeware called "tyre" we use google maps to plot a set of waypoints and then import it as an itinery into my tom tom very handy to set your tom tom route when you are driving an 18 ton 56 foot long outfit !! You can just click on the entrance gate to the site and it's used as the last waypoint
  13. December 12th-13th..£165 per team Regards Vince Cobley Vince Cobley Pro-Trax & Land Rover Owner Adventure Club Cromwell House 2 Debdale Stoke Albany Leic's LE16 8NX Tel: 07973 116681/ 01858535552
  14. Big thank you to the marshalls and to Paul for his mechanical knowledge....just a shame we didnt realise it was the steering box causing a problem before we spent 1.5 hours stripping and refitting the front axle's internals. Still a good day and only other damage was 3 snapped ropes !!!
  15. I would like to add another benefit of auto in a challenge truck and that is your £250 + winch ropes will last much longer , I am sure we have all seen the manual trucks lurch forward when coming off the clutch , the winch rope goes slack , the truck stops due to lack of traction and SNAP the winch rope gets a massive shock load as the winch catches up. I dont clean or swap round my winch ropes (yes I know I should) and my front rope has now done 9 competitions without snapping
  16. the Beck Brothers will be there with the coach again....hope my Landy is more reliable than on the Tuff Trophy !!!!
  17. Chris if your tent floats away you are welcome to sleep in the coach Steve
  18. Seems pretty fair way of handicapping as everybody except 1 guy has the same 80 % handicap
  19. Loads of pics on Mr Nick's Xtremelandy site here http://www.xtremelandy.co.uk/Pictures%20fo...und3/index.html
  20. the Bus idea is the best of both worlds for us BUT as its a 17 tonner I have Hgv2 to drive it and HGV 1 to drive it and tow a 3.5 ton trailer behind....these cost me £1000 per test (inc tutition) with 1st time passes so not cheap
  21. Nick I hope you have the 2 trucks of Andrew and I booked as we are well up for it !!
  22. I'm still a big fan of the stupid big rusty bus that breaks down occasionally method as shown here
  23. We will be there in the Bus again....(have to now as down to 1 trailer now).....REMEMBER BOYS AND GIRLS IT'S BRITISH GRAND PRIX WEEKEND AT NEARBY SILVERSTONE SO LEAVE EXTRA TIME FOR YOUR JOURNEY
  24. I think Zardos is right (and not because he's my brother !!) Tixover is small ,the lake with its grinding paste water will wreck you car , no out of the way camping area, sheer drops into the lake on 3 sides , nothing bigger than a 2 inch stick within 200 yards out the back to winch off. As you can see I HATE the place. Yarwell on the other hand is a sandy type site with much better and varied terrain , a better camping area and while not as big as slindon is I am sure larger than Tixover.....Zardos time for a Tixover / Yarwell overlay
