  1. Here's a couple of pics of my build that might help. Fitted a TD5 tank into a 90 chassis. Didn't keep the standard tank. Welded up a couple of extra brackets onto the tank guard to attach it to the chassis. Had to trim some metal from the rear tub support brackets as they were very close to the tank. Little bit of a squeeze to get it in place, but nothing to difficult Moved the filler using a part from a series landy.
  2. Used Galvafroid to spray up the bulkhead for my 90 rebuild and primed & sprayed over the top. So far so good. Think there is a warning about over painting using certain paints on the tin. Was really surprised by the weight of the tin, must be all zinc in it.
  3. Thanks to everyone who's contributed.... Will try to sort something this weekend if work permits. Might go the TD5 route if I can get one cheap, although only really want a straight through pipe. Will update and post some piccies one I sort something. Might be a while the speed I'm getting bits done at the moment
  4. OK.. Les you've pretty much talked me out of the flexy. Didn't have time this weekend to look for a exhaust stuff Too busy doing house stuff, under supervision from the other half. I thought the TD5 uses a larger diameter tube than 300Tdi. Will have a look at the later ROW exhausts, anyone got a part number ? Don't want to spend too much money on a solution, since I'll get a stainless section made up later.
  5. Thanks guys. I'll try pop into a few places this weekend. Normally have to resort to ordering from the web, since I'm stuck at work all week and nowhere usefull ever open at weekends. Hopefully go the flexy route, don't my welding skills are up to exhausts yet. Got to learn sometime though... Les been reading about Catflap, are you going for tricked up side exit setup ?
  6. Problem.... I'm almost finished building a 300TDI 90 on a galv chassis. Rather than using the standard tank under the drivers seat, have used a plastic td5 tank in the standard td5 location (think this is much less likey get caught or bashed). The only issue is a normal exhaust now wants to occuply the same space as the tank. I have a Rimmer Bros stainless middle box which I have cut the rear joint off leaving a short section of straight pipe directed at the tank heat shield above the rear axle. The idea is to get a stainless section made up to fit and slip over remaining straight section. Don't want to risk driving anywhere with the exhaust blowing straight at the headshield on the plastic tank So need to make up a section to direct the gases away from the tank. Thinking of either using a short flexible section to complete the exhaust or weld up a normal steel section. This would probably a temp measure until I can get a stainless section made. Does anyone know of a supplier of flexible exhaust pipe or exhaust pieces ? Either around Essex or willing to post parts. I have searched the forums and found a few references to the flexy sections, but no details of suppliers. Will try and post some piccys to show exactly the problem
  7. Not finished, but very nearly. Taken ages but should last forever. Can't find the time to finish it and still need a few bits. Needs a custom stainless exhaust rear section, any recommendations? Will post all the build photo's soon. 300TDI, Galv chassis, TD5 tank, TD5 Dash, 2"inch lift, Scrap Iron Evolution kit, Alisport Cooler, Safety Devices cage.
  8. That would be far to easy.... The reasoning behind using a TD5 tank is 1. Better postioning. Tucked out of the way more, not hanging underneath the drivers seat. Hopefully less likely to get bashed or caught up. 2.Plastic, no rust issues. 3. Old tank was knackered and got a good deal on the TD5.
  9. OK. here goes, first attempt at posting pictures........ Taken two years so far mostly at weekends. Did have a 6+ month break Reason I need a non Standard fuel hose, not very clear from picture... Have got loads more pictures of the build.... Will get a post together over the weekend.
  10. Both the filler and tank look to be about 56mm. Thanks for the part numbers I'll have a look in microcat. I suspect they may be too short though. Have one of the stepped hoses off a series filler I think the smallest end fits the tank, but the other is too big and its not long enough. I'll post some pictures once I have got a photobucket account
  11. In search of some fuel hose. Need about 1m to go from the filler to the tank...... Have a td5 tank in a galv 300TDI chassis and a 300TDI back body. Have used a series filler plate thingy mounted almost above the inlet to the td5 tank. Just need the hose. Any ideas where i can buy some online or around Chingford, Essex ? Work really gets in the way as I can't visit any suppliers during the week. Even struggle to get nuts and bolts locally because all the decent places are shut at the weekend. Thought it was time to start posting rather than just read like I did on the previous forum. What's the best photo hosting site currently, I'll post some pics. Cheers
