  1. Thought you might like to see underneath your £450 deposit.
  2. Hi do you have a three part rubber bush with a tube inside all held together with a bolt and 2 large washers the same size as the bushes? Jon
  3. Hi All I have had probs obtaining genuine Capping strips for the rear tub ,fuel pipes antifreeze, and things in quantities of 1 they want to sell a pack of 10 etc etc. And I live in Birmingham ! Are all the little guys who supply LR going out of business ? Jon
  4. Hi sorry to butt in but is it the same as the Husky as mine could do with a lick of paint. Jon
  5. Hi All As the other poster said you can spring the lock with a screwdriver or I use a wire coat hanger and push it into the lock from the inside you may need to push the seat back and fold it flat to get the best angle . You can practice on the other door when its open to see how the mechanism works before tackling the locked one just take you time and it's possible . hope this helps Jon
  6. Hi Have just fitted a one piece door to my 91 CSW the check strap that came with the door didn't allow the door to open fully but the original one with a bit of a crank it in was perfect check for the rubber/polly buffer in the end of the track. Jon
  7. Hi If you can't solder ring up Burlin fuel systems they will sell you butterflies with no poppet valves no bits to fall off .
  8. Hi I have fitted the later seal but you might/ will have to buy a new flange not a bad thing if the reason for failure is a worn flange scouring the seal. Make sure the seal is pressed in with the right tool otherwise it wont last long. Jon
  9. Hi Aragon the bi-metalic strip holds the bottom of the main jet by the plastic elbow dont use card for the gasket might suck air and that would bring all sorts of woes upon you.My link have a look at the first image. Burlin have everything you will ever need. Jon
  10. Hi It should have a bi metalic mixture control in the float chamber and poppet valves, it may have been fiddled with before; if you replace one bimatalic strip you will have to replace the other . You can get most if not all parts from Burlin in Sailsbury ( have the number on the carb tag at hand they are very helpful and do refurb kits www.sucarb.co.uk. Jon
  11. The choke is another cable separate to the throttle . Are all the breathers( flame traps can cause a rich mixture) clear the ones on the cam covers & the one at the back of the engine? Do you have poppet valves in the throttle butterflies (more trouble than they are worth solder shut or get another butterfly)fuel drains fron the carbs can get blocked by mud underseal etc. Float level needle valve seals in float chamber you can take the dash pot damper pistons out and put in a length of wire in to the top where the piston was to see if both pistons are rising at the same time ie one not stuck.High oil pressure can hold tappets open not useually a prob on higher mileage but the bypas in the oil pump may be faulty or wrong spring put in by someone who thinks it will hide low oil pressure???? cant say much more without a crypton hooked up. Now that would be a good idea on line tuning. Hope this helps only try one thing at a time V8s hide power loses and tinkering very well because they are so forgiving .Standard ignition leads are pants get a decent set Magnecore are good. Jon
  12. Hi All Have you checked the fuel filter ? If as you say it's been laid up for a while there may be all sort of rust etc in the tank then on a long run the filter did it's job and got blocked. Also make sure TCC is really TDC (use a bit of welding wire down the spark plug hole not stick weld rod as the flux will flake off) also the original plastic timing gear wears and the chain stretches. Is it firing on all cylinders? choke stuck on a little? is there oil in the dashpots? air leak in manifold?are the compressions equal or close check them first and that might save a lot of time. Jon
  13. Hi New ones are not galvanized except the one circled in green .I have just had mine shot blasted and galvanized I would suggest that you do the same if they aren't too corroded . I found it impossible to get genuine parts for the long cap strip BE WARNED. Jon
