  1. Just as an insight, i did an HNC in AutoCad 15 years ago. Due to the size of the course it was supposed to be a two year course. However, this was condensed into a one year course, 3 days at college and homework to last another 3-4 days. (Most evenings i was still on the computer at 1-2 in the morning) An evening class may only get you to learn the basics. Many things have obviously changed since Using AutoCad R14 and AutoCad is still the basic program. Yes you can do solid modelling in AutoCad But then you need to learn its add-ons such as Inventor, Architechtural etc If i remember, using solidworks there is a facility to migrate from AutoCad to solidworks but i havent really used it and couldnt really get to grips with solidworks. But a lot of companies are using it as AutoCad is becoming so expensive for a license nowadays. I have recently decided to have another go with solidworks and have managed to source the bible for the program. Looking through it , it looks a lot more indepth than the tutorials and has 1170 pages So it may well be better to start learning with Hope this link is ok http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Solidworks%202010%20Bible.pdf May be worth having a read at it just to get you started. Just my two penneth and Hope it helps John
  2. Just thought id update Rang Adrian Flux up regarding the renewal price After i told them that i could get it cheaper with Tescos they rang the insurers and managed to get the figure down to £786. but couldn't match Tescos or come anywhere near. So sadly i have had to leave them and start with Tescos. Incidentally, having watched the footage of the dashcam of the other Fullfat member and as i have managed to save some money on the insurance price, I have gone and got myself a front and rear Blackvue dashcam (yet to be fitted though)
  3. So a fairly fast turnaround should something happen. Yes the Rangy is in my name cheers more food for thought.
  4. Cheers. Other than having a set of AT grabbers on its fully standard. Theres nearly 300 horses at my right foot, i dont really need any more Im going to give Adrian Flux the opportunity to drop their price, but i cant see them matching the prices quoted. Adrian Flux have always given me a good competitive quote in the past and a few times have been the only ones that would insure my 4.0 V8 P38 due to it having a gas conversion on it I also use them via Bikesure to insure my Motorbike I suppose loyalty doesn't count these days and Tesco will probably end up with my custom Shame really
  5. My Insurance is due for renewal at the beginning of Feb. I have always been an Adrian Flux user,.However, this years policy has increased over £200. So i thought id do a little surfing and try somewhere new. Went on gocompare and did the usual forms and to my amazement Adrian Flux were one of the dearest and Tesco Direct were not only far cheaper by a mile and gave me better mileage as well. 05 Range Rover Vogue L322 4.4 V8 Petrol Parked on drive 49 years old 20+ years ncb protected 0 points fully Comp social, domestic pleasure inc cummuting Free courtesy car No excess So my quote from A.flux was £1328.10 limited to 5000 miles a year Tesco Direct £445.00 limited to 15000 miles a year Sadly i dont think that Mr Flux will be able to match this. But before i go ahead, i would like to hear if anybody else uses Tesco Direct.
  6. I have used the Disco 2 axles front and rear I also got the brackets from YRM cutting off the old ones and welding YRM brackets on Have a look at my build pages to give you a bit of an idea http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=81668
  7. So apart from a few hiccups, ive always tried to be a BL / Rover/ Landrover purchaser. I'll try and do the list in order, but might forget an odd one out Talbot Sunbeam, 850 Mini, Rover 3500 SD1, Rover 3500 SD1 SE, Rover V8 Vanden Plas EFI, Rover V8 Vittesse, Rover 216, Rover 820, Sherpa ambulance, Isuzu Trooper, Frod Mondeo, Range Rover V8 4.0 P38, Discovery TD5 (still have) newest addition Range Rover L322 4.4 V8. Together with the old defender 19j in the workshop i have dismantled and is being reborn as the 4.6 V8 Challenge truck (if i ever get time to get back on track with it) so for me its a sort of v8 engine, petrol addicton and a sort of buy british thing
  8. I dont know if it does this with only the N type plug connected or when both the S and N type plugs are both connected. But when both are plugged in for towing, the ecu recognises this and alters the gearing and revs accordingly on my 4.4 v8 L322. It also inhibits the air suspension from dropping at speed which could potentially be disastrous. Petrol consumption in my view is more of a grin factor The more you fill it up, the more smiles you have (just dont look at your bank statement) I have no issues with mine and just love getting in it and driving it
  9. thanks for the reminder. I passed the Auction on tuesday afternoon and wondered if i had missed it. Then i forgot about it again until now
  10. looking at my 41'' led lightbar, the floods on mine have a sort of diffuser on the led lens, whereas the spots dont. Maybe you could just open yours up and remove the diffuser??
  11. This is where ive taken mine from using bits off Nige
  12. Glad to hear your back in the land of the living Nige XL Polo in Navy Blue - Red writing XL Hoodie in Navy Blue - Red writing a mug Cheers
  13. !6'' Disco 2 wheels are standard. So as long as the tyre width is similar you should be ok. Mine has Range rover wheels on and 255/55/18 A/Ts on. ride is a lot bumpier with these on as opposed to the 16'' wheel/tyre combo. But the only off-road it gets is down my mates farm track
  14. Well guys, even Nige has politeley commented on my progess in my profile, lol. I have 2 large whie boards, both erm, blank. I derent even think about when my build will be finished to book an event. But, i am desperateley trying to sort the caravan out with a view to get to the King of Wales in it to re-ignite the build. (its been laid up longer than the project) I have never thought about getting rid, but when folk ask me when the project is likeley to be finished, i remark 'its a retirement project now' I do need a good kick up the backside, just to remember where i left off But in 3-4 weeks hopefully it will be full steam ahead once again
  15. You mean one of these stickers Ed? Dont worry im still holding out either side for a couple of LR4X4.com stickers. Id also be up for a fleece, polo shirt or mug.
  16. Hi, how handy are you with some tools? Is it just the screen that needs replacing? Evilbay link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-RANGE-ROVER-LR3-NAVIGATION-LCD-DISPLAY-TOUCH-SCREEN-05-2006-2007-2008-2009-/151503462028?hash=item23464f5e8c Hope this helps
  17. Its only open until 1pm Anderzander, so if your thinking of going, id make in the morning. I will be there at some point, its only 15 mins for me. http://www.4x4sparesday.co.uk/events/skipton-4x4-vintage-spares-day
  18. +1 on the above posts from Bowie and N4S regarding diff ratios. HFH did a gear ratio calculator table somewhere Having spoken to Nige, Im running a 4.6 with 1,4 transferbox on 35's and Nige recommended using 4.75 c&ps
  19. Something like this then? Came off a 3.9 tomcat. Want to get the 4.6 running properly before i literally blow it
  20. +1 on all the above Would there be any chance of some pictures of the parts that we need to buy. I appreciate that is time consuming for you, but i tried to list the description in the BOM in ebays search and for a power supply i get a few choices all with the same description. Some range from a printer/laptop power supply to led/cctv power supplies All are 24v 400w 16A Power supplies However, the stepper motor, board set is still active, so at least we are singing from the same song sheet with those parts Cheers
  21. Link 1 yes Pipe threader Link 2 manual never looked at Link 3 Not of chuck but die holder Link 4 hard work On video in link 1 0.14 to 0.17 shows the scroll chuck.
