  1. I have a '96 Disco 1, and I'm in the process of upgrading my soundsystem. Already I have installed a high-end Alpine head unit, plus a Soundstream USA model Tarantula amp. I've been looking around for speakers lately, and have been getting stuffed around by audio shops regarding brands, models, sizings and mounting depth. It seems they just want to push whatever product they have in stock to clear it, and less concerned about my needs. The sales pitch usually goes along the lines of "...this is the latest, sickest model out, check the bling, and I run this in my car". Hardly a recommendation from a pimply drop-kick on minimum wage, (usually) driving an unroadworthy bogan car or illegally modified rice-racer. LOL! I used to run Fusion audio gear in my old BMW and was extremely impressed with the quality and results, especially for the money in comparison to some of the bigger brand names. It was hardly a surprise as the company founder was one of the head engineers for Alpine before branching out on his own. Their product range has barely changed and they have greater market presence now, which suggests that they were onto something from the beginning. The prices for the Fusion gear has reduced dramatically these days, and have been eyeing off a few different speakers from their range to put in the Disco. The main problem is that I am unsure of the mounting depth, and whether it's possible to mount 5,1/4" splits in the front doors. I've included a few links to the speakers I'm looking at, and would really appreciate your time and input telling me which ones are possible, and any issues which are likely to arise going to a larger size. I really need to know asap because I may need to order them before I head off on a 3200klm drive! 2. PMSL! I've not yet dealt with anybody who sells Land Rover stuff from there, but have had enough bad experiences buying motorbike parts from the UK to make me think twice. Slack service, parts paid for and never delivered, wrong information, wrong parts posted with a "oh well" attitude, blah blah. Socks need pulling up and butts need kicking big-time! The rest of the world doesn't function like this and something needs to improve dramatically, or else nobody's going to bother importing from the UK.
  3. Figures like that don't sound right mate...our old 3dr 3.5 Disco used to get at least 600klm's from a tank. If you're using an auto and cruise then this would harm economy, but not to that degree. I get 580'ish out of a tank from my 4lt Wranger, but everyone else seems to get about 4-450klm's out of their tanks with the same vehicle. Changing the way you drive and short-shifting makes a MASSIVE difference...4x4's aren't sports cars afterall.
