  1. Are independant businesses allowed to include "Land Rover" in their name if they are not franchised or actually connected to the company? Anyone know?
  2. Well the problem is solved, it was the N/S/F inner CV joint, lots of play, changed whole shaft with both CV s and its back to normal, happy ending, thanks for your input guys!
  3. oh, and just to say have spent 2 hours searching site, not found anyone with same problem, seems most people remove prop due to seized vcu, and theyre cured, but not us....
  4. Hi everyone, my father bought a 2004 td4 freelander a year ago. as soon as i drove it, i noticed a whine (a bit like mud terrain tyres sound) this has bugged both of us, so changed all 4 tyres for new, noise still there.....so we removed the rear prop assembly, noise still there.....so we just left it off for this past month, now we have a heavy vibration through whole car, which comes and goes, it seems worse when acclerating, the gear lever shakes too. the original whine is still present. we also checked the wheel bearings, all good. could it be the IRD? or the actual gearbox? any thoughts gratefully received!
  5. surely it would be a case of dash/interior out then change whole loom, not the end of the world i;d say...............
  6. Thanks for the reply, i chose the l-series because it's similar to the 1.8 k series, ie clutche/gearbox etc. What is a MEMS3 loom?
  7. Hey guys. I have searched and searched again all over the web....can't find anyone who has actually done it. I have a 2003 petrol which we have had from new and has high sentimental value, but head gasket has failed again, so i bought a complete 1998 2.0 diesel L series, which shares the same gearbox etc. Everyone always says dont bother, but i have both vehicles here, so i will be doing it, if i can. Does anybody have any links, info or advice......just dont say its not worth it!!!!!!!!
  8. Hi guys, my 1984 90 2.5 n/a has developed a leak through the throtle spindle on the injection pump. I have taken it to bits and found a rubber o-ring but its not a regular o-ring it has kind of squared off edges. Does anybody know where to get a new one? I have searched this forum and googled it, it seems to be a common fault, but no info on repairing. Anybody been here?
  9. Hello, I have a 90, and want the standard steel wheels, but want tubeless rims and as wide as possible. What year did they become tubeless? and which ones are the widest? 110 maybe?
  10. Quagmire, really liking what i can see of your 90, i have a 1984 one in same colour, which i'm about to attempt to convert to soft top. Couls you post some full pics of yours to inspire me!!!
  11. I've just bought a tilt for my 90, but don't have the sticks/frame etc, so my qusestions are as follows 1 What combination of parts from different land rovers, ie series 3, could be used? 2 Has anyone mounted the taigate with side hinges, as per the full size door? 3 Photos would be good!! 4 Parts for sale would be even better!!!!!!! Thanks guys.......
  12. He has a green "90" on ebay now, although it's a 1980 W. Had one on recently with full cage, you can see it in his history, which was decidedly suspicious vehical. I asked him a few probing questions and he told me to get a life. Not a nice chap, and i'd say avoid him at all costs.
  13. Hi, has anybody fitted 205 r16 tyres onto 8"x 16" modular wheels? What do they look like, any pics? Have the modulars and loads of skinny tyres, but no 255/265/275 tyres. Cheers
  14. There is a "90" on our favourite auction site listed as 230574727518 I'm not having a go, but this is clearly not a 90, and this landyman who's selling really should know better. It looks like a nice enough machine, I feel if he'd advertised it as a hybrid, it would be fine, but this is misleading, I would not like to see some poor newby buying a 1975 "90".
