  1. Hi Jason, from what I know from following head problems in german forums I think there are only 2 different suppliers of heads. One is Land Rover and the other is AMC in Spain. The heads from Turner Engineering are also from AMC, the AMC logo is visible on the pictures from the Turner website. Look at the packaging beneath the head. The experiences with the AMC heads are good and its said they are even better than the LR heads, but I have no real prove of this. Today I visited the garage (John Craddock) because they rang me to tell me something is wrong with the ordered head. OK, not a good point for AMC, but sometimes things go wrong. The camshaft in the head is not turning when put to the upper casing, therefore they ordered another one and unfortunetly the completion of the work will last untill Friday afternoon. The price for the AMC head is about 1400 GBP, wich is approximately the price from Turner plus VAT and may be an extra charge for express delivery. Hopefully we will get back the car tomorrow and after our holiday I can come back with the whole story. Greetings and thanks to everybody beeing very helpfull here in the forum an out there at the several independent LR garages we were in contact. Thomas
  2. Hi Jason, thanks a lot for all the information. Our solution is to get a new head from john craddock and let them do the exchange. Hopefully by tomorrow the new head arrives at craddock and on thursday we can go ahead with our holliday. The new head will cost 1400 pounds, so I think it is an aftermarket head from AMC, as a genuine one from LR costs 2800. Sorry to be so short, but writing with the smartphone is not fun to me. I hope to return on thursday to this thread with some good news. Good night. Thomas
  3. Hi... Ashley 4x4 in Stafford is very close to where we are, is this a good adress to get a cylinder head replaced? Thanks Thomas
  4. Good morning everybody, Yesterday our TD5 got new injector seals, o-rings and fresh oil. Very friendly and helpfull people at Rovertune in Reading, thanks for the hint. Unfortunately, after about 150 miles, we again have a raised oil level. As it was our decission not to go for a new cylinder head, this is definitely not a fault of Rovertune, it was our decission. Ok, thats the story of yesterday, now we would appreciate any hint for a independent LR garage between Birmingham and Stafford. Right now we are in Pillaton near Penkridge. Trank you very much. Thomas
  5. Thanks to everybody, right now the defender is at Rovertune and gets new injector seals . Regarding speeding: sorry I mixed it up at the conversion from kilometers per hour , wanted to say 60 miles. Let you know later how the story goes on Greetz Thomas
  6. Hi Mark, thanks for the quick response. I guess we will take Safari Engineering, as it is only 6 miles to drive. Hope these guys will fix it so that we can continue our holiday. Greets Thomas
  7. Hi Folks, we are on a holiday trip threw England and in trouble with our Defender TD5 (2002). Right now we are near Reading (Wellington Country Park), which is about 20 miles west from London. What I would ask for is a good LR workshop to repair the engine which I think has a problem with the seals at the injectors (a commen problem i guess). I know there is a LR Dealer in Reading, but may be there is a better location to go to with an engine issue. The problem shows as follows. I see a higher engine oil temperatur in the oilsump, the temperature goes up to 120°C on the motorway at 90 miles per hour and the oil level is much too high, about 2 inch over high level. Engine coolant is ok at 90°C. Thanks a lot in advance. Thomas
