  1. You have a disco 3 and yet you are considering a defender?? In all seriousness you are crakers, the disco is streets ahead of the defender in comfort, space and towing manners, whilst the defendern does it all well, the disco does it all well and in comfort!!
  2. I have one of the small table top machine mart cabinets and actually its really handy, works well on small parts, but you are stuffed if it doesnt fit!!!
  3. Thanks for all the offers, Ive sent the sketch to Mickeyw so will await his reply first
  4. Luke - Thanks for the offer, will let you know. Mickeyw - you have PM
  5. Possibly, thanks Andy. Like i said though, its really a 5 min job (working slowly), no design, just sketch, constrain and extrude....done! I'd do it myself but am at work and dont have SW anymore.
  6. I have a part i need modelling for one of our printers, its very simple and ive sketched it out in CAD but could really do with it in SW format. Does anyone with Sw have a spare 5 mins they could spend modelling it up for me? Thanks, smo
  7. Superwinch, Warn, Milemarker (hydraulic)are all worth looking at. Modelwise it really depends what you want it for as some are good slow workhorses, others are better for comps etc.
  8. Nice one James, greatly appreciated. I shall be running it on win 7 so if you have a guide that would be great, if not i'll work it out when ive finished the download
  9. Happy christmas everyone - its not my favorite time of year, but enjoy the time off and the company of family
  10. Ooh, i did!!! It didnt come off at the till, so i looked at her and said - they sign says they are free, and so she manuallly overrode it so i got cheap oil and free drivers, we both knew full well that it didnt apply to trade but i smiled sweetly and it worked.
  11. Cheers for the suppot guys, i shall write a list and try and achieve them to kick start my motivation again
  12. Well aware of this, hence my comment about 2 plates.... Perhaps the police should keep to tangiable offences they can really deal with and leave weight related offecnes to VOSA who will take you to a weighbridge.
  13. I have been booked for being an overweight trailer, its an offence called "driving other than in accordance with a licence", the code for it varies and its utter tripe to be honest because its all on theoretical weight, NOT real weight. It does NOT affect insurance, the plod was happy my insurance was valid despite the above offence, trailers dont really have any effect on it and it certainly doesn tbecome invalid and mean you get booked for that too! Either way, i wrote a very strongly worded letter to the somerset police and got my endoresable offence overturned in about 3 weeks from start to finish. They will still try it on, every time but its utter carp and the law really needs to be changed and updated to cover ACTUAL weight, not some plated carp cos at the end of the day i could have 2 plates for my trailer, a light one for when empty and a proper one for when full - nothing wrong with that
  14. Hi Dave, Well no progress as such as ive been tied up at work however i havent ripped the autobox out which is actually progress in its self!!! I shall be heading up to have a look and tackle them again this weekend. Simon
  15. I would take it off and jet wash it clean, you may want to consder using a dilute solution of bleach to scrub it with(kills the mould) too but make sure you wash it off thoroughly to prevent bleaching! Afterwards its worth treating it with a waterproofing agent such as fabsil.
  16. Hi Bish, I rekon i could spare you some hours on saturday if you need a hand. Cheers Simon
  17. Bishbosh - very kind offer, i can always find jaffa cakes Tony, its slightly higher now its in on custom sub-frames, i cant go any higher without being waaaay to close to the internal cage with my head, but at 6'1" i find it about right anyway, and it was never really designed with "other drivers" in mind (the misses refuses to go near it, and my 4yr old can see fine when sitting on my lap!)
  18. I had a leak on my old 200Tdi, i sent the pump off for a rebuild from "diesel bob" (google him) - first class service and he will use HD seals that withstand veg-oil if you request too. Its not cheap though.
  19. Hi Dave, We spoke about the cooler the other day on the phone! Its sortable but a pain and its turning into a never ending money pit, coupled with the problems of working in a stable as my workshop heading into winter!! I'll have a look at the alternatives for the hi-lo lever, i have the cable operated alternative too but it does mean lack of control of the centre diff lock??? I am indeed thoroughly fed up, it was a fun project to begin with but its dragged on too long now, i just want to get out and play again.
  20. Tunnel is too narrow to take them side by side. Also with the design of the shifter (carp design landrover!) once mounted the top to the base there is a gap of about 1.5" which needs to be filled, originally by the D2 fake wood tunnel top, but not any more as i dont have a D2!!
  21. Piccies..... That is the tunnel and the space constraints, not enough space infront, none beside and if it goes behind its impossible to use as its too far back.
  22. I stopped enjoying the build a while back, just want it done but it seems this change of g-box was the worst decision ever!
  23. I'm still building the D-Lander, what was ment to be a 6 month build is now 2+ years, last year i was offered a 4HP22 with bits as a swap for my R380 - this seemed ideal as i simply needed a compushift and i'm away. Today the car is still not finished, fitting in the oil cooler is proving to be very awkward and potentially very expensive, the gear stick is impossible to fit in the tunnel as the engine is set 16" further back than normal stuffing my hi-lo lever in the middle of the tunnel, not enough room in front and too far back to reach if positioned behind. It seems to be a never ending nightmare to the point im conisdering changing back to manual just so get her driving. I have no idea if i should struggle on, or change back...anyone else really regret "good ideas"???
  24. This is just what i'm after, i was going to pay to get 10 cables crimped up, but its probably cheaper to buy this and do it myself
  25. I'm looking at ordering a cooler tonight for my 4HP22 autobox on the D-Lander specifically: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-15850/ or http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-15800/ The first is a plate cooler, the second is a more traditional fin type cooler - can anyone explain the difference. Also what is the 25000 and 30000 GVW they refer to, surely its not gross vehicle weight???
