Yes, wasnt easy i was dreading it - borrowed in good faith and returned broken, all be it not my fault!
-
I'm not - the owner is having a look this week as im at work, if its not done by the weekend i shall have a look then but my first port of call is the pump.
-
Yes i have a nanocom - no faults recorded (apart form the usual AC clutch etc cos it doesnt have AC)
I thought fuel pump as i couldnt hear it.....broke down properly last night when driving over to the in-laws, power loss then died, refuses to restart until 45 mins later when i returned with trailer and car to tow her home, she started reluctantrly but rough as a bad of nails, no smoke tho.
I tried her with the maf sensor disconnected (before she died) and it made no difference, the nanocom suggests it was working anyway.
No oil on ecu plugs - but i cleaned themj with brake cleaner anyway, no water in seat box and she's never been swimming more than a puddle on the farm lanes.
I'm stumped, first port of call is filter and pump as it seems like classic fuel starvation, fingers crossed its not a head gasket.

No smoke of either kind really, not overheated, no oil in water or water in oil.

I have similar problems on a TD5 at the moment - not a clue what's causing it yet tho
-
I borrowed my farmer landlords TD5 defender to tow the d-lander to devon with - its broken!!!
Day started out ok, with a slight rough run possible miss early morn but she drove ok for 100 miles
Used throughout the day, loaded trailer and ran about a bit no problem but then on the trip home she suffered massived power loss, i had to use low range to get up hills and managed 8mph at one point flat out - she sounded rough, missing type sound.
Got to dad's half way and gave him trailer to tow, but even empty she was struggling up hills, off load she sounded fine and went ok, with occasional spurts of power but up hill got slower and slower and slower!!
Any ideas on diagnosis, i really cant return her broken, but in fairness i didnt break her either!!!
Help!
P.S - Its an 02 TD5 on a 51 plate - ive checked the ECU plugs and they look ok but will clean them later as a precaution.

Any chance of success in welding Alu with this product, as in sections onto a roofrack for example ? Any experiences or comments appreciated.
Edit : The link did not work properly, trywww.durafix.eu/, the video can be found at the top right of the page
I've got some, absolute rubbish, i wouldnt bother wasting my money on it again - either TIG or MIG, not some blowtorch bodge.

Auto into defender is nice but the trim is expensive (£200+) and compushift is also (£800ish).
If you dont buy the engine & gearbox then can i have it please, could do with a spare for the d-lander and its exactly what i run linked to the compushift system
-
ICE seems like a good idea, i cant see paramedics using it from the scene, however i do know doctors/hospital staff do from A&E (my partner is a hospital doc) and also police could use it.
I shall add some to my phone.

As said above, not unless you cut the arches.

Yes he was
However it is very much appreciated as it seems the muppets i purchased my own one from have delivered it to the wrong place!!!

Nothing wrong with flex straight to the caliper - as long as its long enough, i have it on my comp truck like that and many performance road vehicles have braided flexy lines straight from the factory (including rally cars, race vehicles and other vehicles)

Cheers Tony, I'll speak to Anton if i get really stuck, seems a little cheeky as they are a business but they did get paid to do my starter the other week.
-
I ordered one online Tony but it hasnt arrived yet!!! Why is it when you need somthing urgently it takes an age to arrive.
-
Has anyone got a hub nut socket they could lend me as my original box spanner was nicked by a mate, and my replacement hasnt arrived and i urgently have to do all 4 corners wheel bearings this week, get her mot'd and then go get the d-lander at the weekend!!!!
I'm in Kingsteignton near newton abbot and would be very appreciative of any help.
Thanks

Opening sunroof and windows uses more fuel than running air con.......

I would think marine grade battery cable would be a good bet, designed not to corrode in salt environment so should be OK
Tis where my money would go - Merlin http://www.merlinequipment.com/ would be the best bet as Matthew is a member on here....
-
Thats not good - i live about 3 mins from OEC and my workshop is *somewhere* around here too.....thank god my car trailer lives else where, and the d-lander is lurking in another county too!!!
-
Parrafin for a safe bet, petrol for the quick 'n' nasty
-
3.2 is pretty standard - are you looking at seamed or seamless (the latter being better) - if course to really save weight use somthing like T45
-
Yeah, hilarious.
Thanks for the great tech...
Kind of understandable, Dave runs a company for profit, and is developing a new product to sell - if he gave away all the secrets and tricks they use no one would buy anything!
-
Interesting, so come on Dave....spill the beans on this side of the pond!!
-
Ah yes but the staun inner tube is kevlar reinforced and in a kevlar bag or somthing from memory to make it super strong.
D-Lander is slow, but getting there, ive moved to devon so am without her for a while altho have a new workshop and moved the tools and bits today...car to follow shortl!

What about the 2.5na. Any issue running bio in it? Does it hurt the seals in the injector pump?
Cheers
Again this is fine. Biodiesel should be manufactured to equivalent standards to mineral diesel so will run in any diesel car (however modern cars like to put warnings about it)
The one to watch is SVO/WVO - WVO (waste veg) needs processing and is a no-no, SVO is ok - its new veg oil and can be used in 2.5, 200tdi, 20tdi straight without problem however it will eventually kill your pump seals, this could be 200miles, or 200,000 miles depending on the state of the pump, they can be rebuilt stronger tho to cope.
