  1. I disagree but really cant be arse to argue, the whole point about the hitches is that they arent under load, hence the ability to release them, if they are its tied wrong!
  2. Not its not, in the sailing world, of which i know "a fair bit" as an RYA qualified instructor i can guarentee that of the knots taught in the boating world, if you tie up to a quayside and the tide drops and puts it under serious tension the only knot you'll get undone is the round turn and two half hitches.....dont believe me?? Hang a handrover off a cliff and see what knotts you can undo!!!!
  3. The ONLY knot that can be undone whilst under tension is the round turn and two half hitches, which is not ideal for joining 2 ropes however is great for attaching to recovery loops. the bowline mentioned above is ok to undo when the strain is off if you can break its back, smaller lines and high ammounts of tension can tighten it so much it becomes impossible though.
  4. I have the axminster 3 in 1 sheet metal worker and have to say its brilliant, you can do more than the capacities it specifies and its a godsend for simple sheet jobs, ive used it for all my d-lander stuff its well worth the money.
  5. Very few lanes left anywhere, shame NERC can't be overturned.
  6. Having had a Patriot rack i'd keep that, very strong and easy to use for just about anything!
  7. EDIT: Ignore me, going bonkers! Ere, not seen it andy, would be cool tho if you have a pic
  8. Mine has a tripple lock hitch which is locked, into which i lock an AL-KO security hitch ball and i also use an approved wheel clamp, mine tends to live in a remote place behind locked gates too however if i have to park it outside the house i usually chain it to a lamp post too as an additional measure.
  9. Cheers Mark, just a shame i was heading the other way on the dual carriageway otherwise id have stopped and snapped some piccies. If anyone knows of someone who is getting one, or see's it somewhere in the SW england (devon/cornwall) i'd love to know more - it was seen just outside of exeter!!
  10. I saw a purple Freelander 2 on a transporter for delivery the other day - ive checked the LR website but cant identify the colour. Does anyone know what colour it could have been, i wasnt aware that LR did "specials" but it was like a metallic cadbury purple colour - gorgeous
  11. I have a clarke hunter 60 - its got a 50l tank and 2.5/3hp V-Twin "engine" so shifts a lot more air than similar sized compressers, never had a problem with shot blasting, windy gun, cutting or spraying and its very well priced too.
  12. Copper is fine, cunifer is better but costs more...if you already have pipe use it, otherwise buy whatever you can afford, they do the same job after all!!!
  13. What kind of tyres Si?? If its road tyres most manufacturers make "eco" tyres, continental eco-contact SP, michelin energy, goodyear eagle ls etc etc.
  14. Keep the auto, you went through the effort of converting it so dont throw it all away now....however, if you do then i might be interested in some of your bits (cooler etc.)
  15. Sealed things and hot dip galvanising dont mix, they tend to have the potential to go bang which means the glav companies wont touch them.
  16. I see 2 rather nice space frames in that pic, good to see air bags in deployment too
  17. Aah, Andy - i might have got a typo in my email address....it should be so3d.net....i think i missed the "d" hence no emails
  18. Ta Did you have any luck with the compushift info mate?
  19. Some nice and rather handy lathe tools, centre drills and milling cutters - let me know if you want shot of them
  20. Cheers Andy, i had a look on microcat myself and the picture there is rubbish, the problem i have is the pivot mechanisms and howe the pins fit and secure.
  21. The temp sender supplied by ashcroft is pre-tapped, you simply drill and weld/braze the metal boss into the oil sump on the autobox and then screw in the sensor....talking of which i might do mine today!
  22. Can some kind person please pop up an exploded view of the D2 auto shifter. Thanks Simon
  23. For the price of a TGV id be looking at getting a crate turnkey LS2 or similar.
  24. Ive had a look around and have found places that i think have the capacity, however for the tube diameter the vent/drain hole sizes required would screw the structural integrity of the cage, which is welded permenantly to the chassis and cannot be removed... Looks like it will stay painted then!
