  1. where abouts are you from? somebody may offer some assistance
  2. jesus my car is a 1997 90 i use it off road all the time and have had to have some little spots of welding done but that takes the micky a little bit where has it been parked when not in use a swamp??? the exhaust hanger rubber made me laugh holding on for dear life to the only bit of metal left lol advert should say land rver parts with some chassis lol
  3. iv just bought a 1997 defender for 4000 but it was mint and had 100k on the clock so i would say the price without vat would be about right imho
  4. i was wondering about the differences in spring stiffness and is there a way of telling? the defender 90 i purchased has a three inch lift all the springs are blue and the shockers are bearmach tuff backs i think but the ride is really really stiff. if i go over a pot hole or a speed hump it feels like there is no give at all, does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on what could be the problem or a solution for making it softer? its not bad for the road but as soon as i go off-road i get rattled to death
  5. i just fitted a gwyn lewis side exit in exactly the same spot on saturday and absolutely love it but be warned if you fit it yourself it comes in bits and needs three bits of stainless welding. love the size fitment and extra noise
  6. i know this may sound a little mad and i dont expect a lot of people to know what im on about but has anyone seen a beachcasting multiplier reel? exactly the same principal as the winch above but on a lot smaller scale trust me when you are pulling 80lb line against a current with a large fish on the end those tiny reels do a good job of spreading the line evenly back onto the reel
  7. i will agree with the mount above. those body mounts are great just two small holes for the bolts attached, self sealing when tightened and will take some stick. i have a tti-660 cb (i think) i know its tti there cheep and cheery had mine over a year and had no trouble, works great. a mount as above with a normal whip aerial is enough for green laning i use mine for the same reason plus when marshalling never had any problems. my kit cost less than £80 all brand new including the aerial cable
  8. ahhhh the amount of ammo boxes and that iv looked at and i never thought to use them. good idea. is there anyone with any wooden suggestions or anything of that kind of material to compare? oh and thanks for the quick reply i will now be searching for ammo boxes
  9. im wanting to fit storage on the sides in the back of my 90 just for straps, strops shackles etc etc has anyone else got any suggestions ideas or such like on a good make or model or is it as good to make your own? if anyone has made some hints and tips would be appreciated as im on a tight budget at the minute cheers gaz
  10. thanks for that i will have a look when i can see i hate the light situation in winter. no garage and go to work in the dark come home in the dark bad times.
  11. oops my mistake lol yes your right a mixup of letters iv done a bit of work in my battery compartement in the defender but i dont see no spider unit are they definately there? im thinking it may be the spider unit as i had this problem with a previous disco i had for a while but it seemed to sort itself out. i just dont like preparing to go to work then finding out the landy wont start at the last minute. thanks for hasty replies i will have a look when i have some daylight or find my head torch and can be bothered to remove both batteries cheers gaz
  12. hi iv just looked at the tech page and got right to the bottom only to find out about it been a different set of problems for a vehicle with an edc and guess what mine has one. i know this because i have already seen it it is located under the cubby box. maybe it is time i mentioned my defender is an r reg 1997 just before the td5's were started when they were fitting 300tdi's with some parts they were intending to use on the td5's so any news on this extra problem and i guess now you seen a defender 300tdi manual with an edc
  13. my 300tdi defender has been a bit tempremental lately when trying to start. at first i thought it was a battery problem, but there wasnt even a click from the starter motor and all lights were still bright, no dimming. my winch also still worked so my thinking was that if there was enough power to run my winch there should be enough to turn the starter motor. its a bit like you would imagine the car to be when the immobiliser is still engaged, everything is fine when i turn the key i get all the lights coil light etc but when i turn the key the last click to start nothing at all. if i leave it and return it will start no problem at all. the period of time i need to leave it varies too longest it has not started for was a day shortest was abut 10 mins and it doesnt matter if its been driven beforehand it just does it when its bored i think. i would be grateful of any advice on this matter and i hope its an easy fix. (i hate electrical systems) cheers gaz
  14. iv just got my first defender a 1997 300tdi 90 and i absolutely love it. anyway... my point is i looked around for about 4months before i came to the decision to buy the one i got, and im so glad i did. the money i paid for it, compared to some of the others i looked at at the same price, well lets just say some people were dreaming. dont worry about the age of whatever you are looking at, land rovers and prices all depend on the condition not the age and im sure from what iv seen so far, there are plenty of people on here who would be willing to offer help and advice good luck searching
  15. i have heard from someone that it is possible and quite an easy job to mount a rear winch on top of a southdown towing hitch fr a 90 where the cable will come through the rear crossmember. does anybody else know about this or maybe have any information about it or even know of anyone who has done it? i have a husky winch and i know it is a long shot but if anyone has done this i would love details and maybe even some detailed pictures to help in the process if it is possible. so..... any help would be much appreciated cheers gaz
  16. this is my first post on this site but if im right it should run a little hotter than that but not much and again if im right thermostats have different temp ratings and it will have it stamped on the side somewhere. if you think its the thermostat...... to test it, take the thermostat out of the housing dangle it in a pan of water on the stove along with a thermometer and see if it opens at the temperature stated then when upto temperature if it opens take it out and see if it closes again as it cools down..... if it has been replaced there is a chance it will have been replaced with one of a different temp rating
